Senior Sales Engineer - Account Management

As a Senior Sales Engineer you will play a key role in collaborating with the Account Management team on existing enterprise accounts. Your responsibilities will be to identify customer pain points, uncover new opportunities, develop solutions, present the Fastly value benefits & address any technical objections. To realize this, the Senior Sales Engineer should have a strong desire to utilize their technical & sales skills to understand the customers needs & requirements. The Senior Sales Engineer should be highly competent in developing a technical sales strategy & have the ability to work cross-functionally with Account Management, Product Management, Product Marketing, Engineering.  Experience in delivering compelling demonstrations of cloud solutions & products is essential.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with Account Managers to develop & execute strategy on growing accounts
  • Uncover customer needs & propose relevant Fastly solutions
  • Perform product demonstrations live in the field or via video conference
  • Plan & successfully execute on light-weight Proof-of-Concepts
  • Execute a smooth hand-off of a customer to technical implementation team
  • Participate in product, sales & role-specific trainings so as to remain effective in your role
  • Be able to contribute content for general customer education
  • Run a regular cadence of sessions for Account Managers to drop in & ask technical questions
  • Plan & participate in customer Quarterly Business Reviews

What We're Looking For

  • 8+  years experience in a similar role
  • Experience in partnering with Account Managers in selling to & growing enterprise accounts 
  • Proven ability to perform demos in front of both technical & business focused audiences
  • Knowledge in cloud & web related technologies is required
  • Comfort with networking/security systems/protocols & Linux systems are essential
  • Working familiarity with a basic scripting language (python, ruby, perl, PHP or VCL)
  • Ability to quickly digest & respond to complex information in an appropriate manner
  • Very comfortable interacting with all role levels both inside & outside the company
  • Impeccable verbal & written communication skills
  • Comfortable keeping up with technology trends in cloud services
  • Open, curious & receptive to new ideas & ways of doing things
  • Travel domestically 30%
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or a comparable field is preferred.
