About the role:

We are looking for a VP, Insurance Portfolio Development in our New York office who will be responsible for managing the end-to-end development of the insurance product portfolio for all our insurance companies.  As the VP of Insurance Portfolio Development, you understand Oscars vision & business goals, the health insurance & health tech industry, the emerging trends, & the importance & best-practice of insurance rules & regulations. In addition, the VP will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of insurance product developments in alignment with Oscars vision & long term strategy, building out core functions & staff, & driving cross-functional innovations & opportunities. 

You will report to the SVP of Commercial Finance. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead development & innovation of Oscars new & existing health & wellness products & service offerings for Oscars insurance programs to provide best-in-class innovative, affordable, accessible care 

    • Oversee insurance plan design, benefit design, coverage & cost-sharing strategy, & pricing teams focusing on speed to market & quality

    • Identify new opportunities or enhancements to existing products & benefit designs, & product bundles based on rules, regulations, market trends, evolving needs of current & potential new customers

  • Support innovation & new program initiatives with new or redesign of current insurance product portfolio 

    • Lead new insurance product development efforts, working closely with Oscar stakeholders & cross-functional teams (across insurance, legal & technology) to continue to reshape insurance product portfolio 

    • Closely engage in the development of business & digital strategy for Oscars existing & new markets

  • Lead the robust capacity building & continuous improvements 

    • Generate data-driven insights of insurance product performance & outcomes, connect strategy across network, sales, data & tech, operations to make recommendations for program improvements

    • Continue built & enhance core capacity while formalize & streamline operational processes & integrations to enable scaling

Requirements:

  • A Bachelors Degree or graduate degree required; 

  • 10+ years of professional experience in the insurance industry, & a strong leadership & business relationship skills to build trust & respect 

  • Has built & managed growing insurance product development related teams in a fast-moving, complicated environment

  • Results oriented, capable of navigating ambiguity, distilling analyses into actionable business insights with seasoned judgment & experience, & clearly translating strategic objectives into implementable processes that drive outcomes

  • Willingness to roll-up sleeves to understand details, grow with the teams, & get the job done

  • Strong collaboration skills to ensure effective alignment among diverse teams

  • Excellent financial & organizational systems acumen; practical experience in insurance product development, pricing, data-driven decision making strongly preferred

  • Executive presence & ability to communicate with, influence, & manage stakeholders, including C-level executives
