About the role

We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to join our Research & Development Operations team. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence within our R&D department (Engineering & Product), growing efficient processes, & facilitating seamless collaboration across various teams. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in designing, planning, & coordinating cross functional improvements in an intensely technical landscape.

R&D Operations plays a crucial role in enabling our organization to exceed customer expectations by shortening feedback loops & accelerating learning. By focusing on coordination & process effectiveness , R&D Operations minimizes friction & allows teams to concentrate on delivering high-quality products & services. They ensure that R&D is constantly improving in all facets while remaining aligned, agile, and  consistently exceeding  the evolving needs of our customers with high quality.

You Will

• Lead the requirements gathering, program scoping, & solution planning for key initiatives.
• Define & track success metrics using a combination of quantitative & qualitative measurements.
• Leverage software development expertise to identify potential obstacles to program success.
• Perform risk assessment & develop mitigation strategies for potential obstacles.
• Develop dashboards for self-service monitoring of project status & delivery to objectives.
• Continuously assess program execution for improvement opportunities & alignment to corporate goals.
• Contribute to methodology definition, process maturation & continuous improvement of the Operations department.

You Have

• 8+ years of experience successfully defining & delivering complex & highly technical programs.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies & real world application in a cloud software environment.
• Extensive experience tailoring Jira to a companys needs & the pros/cons of configuration decisions.
• In depth technical knowledge of software development practices & technologies, especially in a SaaS environment.

• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
• Growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement & operational excellence.
• Proficiency in data analysis & the ability to leverage technology to drive process improvements.

Before joining Cockroach Labs, BabuSrithar held senior leadership positions at companies like Nutanix, Clumio & recently he was VP of engineering at Apty where he led the engineering globally. When not at work, he enjoys his time with his 5-year-old & family.

Colin is responsible for ensuring that operations within the R&D department are as efficient & impactful as possible. He has built & managed multiple high performing program management organizations at various companies, often during crucial growth stages. His love of learning & building extends beyond his profession in software, always looking for the next DIY project or outdoor hobby in the Pacific Northwest.
