About the Role:
You will be joining a world class Satellite Manufacturing team. Here at Planet we approach hardware development like software: we release early & release often. Our philosophy is to iterate quickly to ensure we always have the latest technology & advancements of our platform ready for launch. That thinking is at the core of how we approach Manufacturing at Planet.
You will build, test & deliver hundreds of Satellites with a small team of dedicated technicians & engineers who take great pride in their work.
Impact Youll Own:
- Assemble & test satellite avionics at board level & subassembly level
- Organize & manage test stations & tools
- Support engineering in improving functional testing of sub systems & components as well as system level testing
- Build cables & harnesses for internal systems, electrical interconnects & overall systems.
- Troubleshoot test failures with test engineers
- Develop & improve work instruction guides
- Apply continuous improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma)
What You Bring:
- Excellent communication skills & the ability to work well with people at all levels & teams
- Ability to document test issues clearly & concisely in JIRA and/or Slack
- Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple units under test simultaneously
- Steady hands for precision assembly/disassembly of unit under test with test station
- Experience with electronics assembly procedures
- Impeccable organization skills
- Strong analytical & problem solving skills
- 3+ years of hands-on technician experience
- Hands-on attitude towards work
- Experience rolling out SOPs & standard work
- Ability to debug mechanical & electrical systems
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Proven history of managing complex, interdisciplinary manufacturing processes
- Ability to learn new engineering concepts quickly
- Demonstrated ability to implement continuous improvement processes
- Experience with command-line interface on Linux desktop
- Ability to read & parse log files
- Strong PCB & harness soldering skills
