Job Description

Senior Software Developer in Test for system test development & validation of our Spatial Computing system that provides a realistic 3D augmented environment on top of the real world. Position will target the security aspects of our product & their interactions with the embedded components. This includes the hardening of our software through different techniques as well as making sure the functionality of the product does not get altered with the implementation of these security features.


  • As a Senior SDET, you will work with the development & program management teams to define, develop, & execute test cases that will allow us to perform validation targeting the hardening of our software & its components
    • Validation of Security Enhanced Linux (SELinux), Jailing, & Sandboxing changes that provide a mechanism for supporting access control security policies & isolating applications from critical system resources
    • Validate security changes at the kernel level pulled in from the Linux Open Source
    • Ensure the overall software functionality remains intact with the implementation of security features
  • Analyze various components of the Magic Leap systems, collaborate with various development teams, & use your technical expertise to investigate, troubleshoot & verify software defects & other technical issues
    • This includes being able to analyze logs to help root cause the issue or determine the component(s) causing it
    • Review integrated code changes to isolate which one might be causing a failure within a release
  • Engage in exploratory testing targeted at trying to break into our code or causing security violations to occur that will lead to vulnerabilities


  • 8+ years of software development experience working on embedded products or mobile applications with a minimum of 5 of those years having an emphasis on embedded security testing
  • Knowledgeable on SELinux & Sandboxing
  • Excellent understanding of all test fundamentals & the associated use of test management & defect tracking tools is a must
  • Expertise with one or more programming languages, such as C, C++, C#
  • Scripting knowledge of Python, PowerShell & Shell scripting is desirable
  • Hands-on experience with manual and/or automated testing of embedded devices is desired
  • Excellent understanding of all test fundamentals & the associated use of test management & defect tracking tools is a must
  • Good understanding of hardware/software interoperability in an embedded system
  • Good analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Excel in a fast-paced, agile environment supporting multiple projects using a wide variety of technologies
  • Excellent oral & written communication with effective presentation skills including possessing a dynamic & can do attitude


  • BS in Computer Science is required
  • MS is preferred
