Job Description

This position reports to the Senior Director of Infrastructure Reliability Engineering storage. The successful incumben will manage a global storage reliability teams & overall US associated infrastructure managers (network, storage & compute) & work closely with the architecture team & engineering teams within Visa's Global Operations & Infrastructure organization.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior technology leader to make key contributions to help transform Visa's global infrastructure with a focus on storage toward next-generation capabilities. As part of the team, the candidate is empowered to lead by example in support of Visa critical applications, ensuring service stability & availability, while delivering efficiency through value-add automation. The incumbent will be leading innovation through the delivery of orchestrated automation & mitigating impact through root cause analysis excellence. The chosen incumbent's proven leadership & management experience will be well utilized working in a 24x7 leadership team which provides global follow-the-sun support. Their analytical systematic approach toward qualitative & quantitative data driven decision making, will lead toward successful delivery against strategy.

The successful incumbent will provide senior technical leadership in several areas of expertise, including SDS, storage fabric/switching, & networks. They will develop & execute new initiatives to simplify, standardize & optimize the infrastructure design to reduce cycle times & increase reliability, stability & service agility. They will work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders across several functional & technology areas of Visa to execute business priorities & meet challenges of technology, regulatory, security, & competitive conditions.

  • Storage management of san, nas, brocade, fabric/switching, backup recovery, capacity, optimization & reliability

  • Oversee all storage engineering projects, including planning, implementation, maintenance, administration, staffing & logistics.

  • Storage optimization & performance management

  • Change/incident/problem management at storage engineering level

  • Customer/partner engagements, including partner vendor management

  • Direct management of Infrastructure Reliability Engineering personnel within the United States locations. This includes the leadership of US based networking, storage & compute leads.

  • Establish best-practice storage engineering methodologies for incident/change/problem management in a global, 24x7, high-volume, high-availability, critical production environment, based on metrics-based KPIs.

  • Develop storage design & implementation roadmaps to meet the company's operations & infrastructure business goals & metrics for availability, resiliency & performance.

  • Identify & assess technology trends & articulate technology recommendations.

  • Lead the development of innovative storage engineering tools & processes, as well as proof-of-concept projects & lab trials with a focus on multi-vendor solutions & innovative technologies, particularly focused around software defined operations & CI/CD.

  • Provide leadership to manage demands from projects & technology upgrades including recommendations for vendor tools/solutions & global alignment of storage & infrastructure.

  • Mentor, coach, manage & motivate a high-performing team of senior engineers & managers (including at manager/director-level) & set clear priorities to achieve department goals & KPIs.

  • Manage oversight of complex infrastructure operations processes based on a combination of vendors, custom solutions, & internal resources.

  • Support adoption of new technologies & tools, recommend capability improvements to engineering, & assist in lab deployments for technology trials.

  • Ensure that information security & risk management are embedded within the culture requiring continuous improvement to a complex set of functions to coordinate security & compliance risks related to information systems & assets. Drive coordination, consensus & execution to mitigate cyber risk issues & emerging threats in such a dynamic environment.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operation, administration & maintenance of the enterprise infrastructure, including development of Risk Management, Identity/Access Management, Infrastructure & Privacy, & Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Plans.

  • Determine need for new products & systems based on budget, client needs, & improvements in technology.

  • Lead development of innovation & strategic direction in application of theories & concepts in storage design, configuration, administration, maintenance and/or support.

  • Analyze storage from a cost, capacity, & forecast perspective, & evaluate new storage designs, technologies & applications.

  • Work closely with other departments to proactively ensure storage engineering capabilities are capable of handling emerging & future business requirements.

  • Ensure service level targets are met, & address all service-level concerns from an infrastructure reliability engineering perspective.

  • Ensure infrastructure implementations & engineering processes are conducted according to corporate standards, & in compliance with external standards as defined in company objectives (e.g., ITIL, COBIT, ISO27001/27002 & similar).

  • Participate in disaster recovery/business continuity activities, as needed.

  • Comfort in working through corporate culture with purpose & energy to promote a unified approach.

  • Establish standards & governance in future acquisitions to mitigate risk & maximize infrastructure stability & reliability.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in interactions with partners & customers, program manage collaboration projectsexternally & internally.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree; 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD); or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15-18 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD or PhD)

  • 6+ years experience in improving stabilization of complex enterprise infrastructure.

  • 6+ years experience in re-engineering complex architectures for latency-sensitive business services

  • 6+ years experience in working with highly-effective engineering teams through major technology transitions

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of storage and/or networking technologies, with solid understanding of the software-defined storage & network (SDN / SDS) ecosystem.

  • Hands-on experience in designing & deploying large scale-out infrastructure technologies.

  • Experience in managing cost-reduction programs.

  • Track record in developing next-generation leaders.

  • Demonstrated experience of metrics-driven management with accountability.

  • Demonstrated understanding of tools & technologies in storage and/or network engineering ecosystem.

  • Prior experience in a dedicated role around defining storage engineering strategic planning.

  • Demonstrated consistent & steady growth in career

  • Keen understanding of budgets & financials, & measuring business value via leading-edge metrics & KPIs.

  • Must have strong & pragmatic views about open standards with supporting evidence.

  • Excellent communicator & able to drive consensus across diverse/global technology teams.

  • Prior experience in non-Cisco networking or storage technologies.

  • Proven track record of driving change & transformation in storage, infrastructure engineering technologies, tools & processes through metrics-driven, KPI-based methodologies, & an evidence-based continuous improvement approach to best meet business objectives & priorities.

Travel Requirements

This position requires the incumbent to travel up to 10% of the time.

Work Hours

Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit & stand at a desk, communicate in person & by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones & computers, reach with hands & arms, & bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
