What Were Looking For

The Senior SOX Compliance Analyst has extensive Sarbanes-Oxley compliance experience & a proven track record of influencing & educating control owners on the concepts of internal controls. This role will report to the Manager of SOX Compliance & work closely with other cross-functional groups such as revenue, accounts payable, treasury, & tax, as well as external auditors & third-party co-source consultants.

In this position, you will contribute to a robust internal controls program & have the opportunity to assist in the implementation of internal controls for newly acquired companies & processes. You are a subject matter expert in the SOX, business (i.e., financial) controls & the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) audit & compliance domains.


What Youll Do

Core SOX / ICFR Activities:

Assist in evaluating, reinforcing, & promoting the SOX 404 & 302 program standards & approaches to business process partners.

Coordinate & lead day-to-day SOX compliance activities including planning, control monitoring, walkthroughs, control design & effectiveness testing, evaluation of deficiencies, & development of remediation plans.

Improve SOX documentation & work papers (i.e., work with process owners to refine risk control matrix, improve process flows, define applicable framework elements / GL accounts, refine / develop test procedures, propose control language edits & associated risks etc.)

Contribute to the SOX scoping, materiality, fraud, & risk assessment activities.

Maintain the SOX Assessment Tool (e.g., AuditBoard)

Evaluate deficiencies & develop & coordinate remediation activities with partners, including control owners, management, & the external auditor.

Perform & review key report testing to ensure reports used in controls are complete & accurate.

Review & analyze attestations reports (SSAE18) for service providers


Build Relationships Internal & External:

Develop deep relationships with business members & make recommendations for operational improvement.

Educate, mentor, & guide business partners regarding internal control compliance matters & requirements, while ensuring all controls are documented appropriately.

Support the external audit processes, including quarterly reviews & the year-end audit tests of controls & serve as liaison between process owners, internal consultants, external auditors, & other partners.


Communication, Learning & Special Projects:

Prepare reports & presentations on SOX prioritization, test status, & observations for executive management & Audit Committee.

Stay current on new technical literature (e.g., PCAOB guidance, SEC, COSO), as well as new trends & standard methodologies around internal controls.

Lead and/or contribute to special projects both ongoing & recurring (e.g., scaling controls, segregation of duties, implementation support/advisory), as needed, in an effective & efficient manner.


Who You Are

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 4+ years in internal or external audit, risk/controls advisory, or comparable role; minimum of 3 years of SOX experience required; 2+ years of Big 4 public accounting preferred.
  • Team-oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, flexible & motivated to learn; excellent teammate, ready to join a positive company & robust group.
  • CPA, CISA, CIA or other relevant professional certification highly desired.
  • A deep understanding of GAAP, COSO, Sarbanes Oxley Act, & PCAOB Rules & experience in the use of auditing & assessment frameworks & the application of professional standards.
  • Experience partnering with IT SOX counterparts & overall understanding of IT SOX controls & implications on financial reporting.
  • Ability to travel domestically & internationally up to 10%
