Job Description

PURPOSE

The Country Manager for Bahrain is responsible for setting the direction of the overall business strategies, objectives, targets & plans in each market through business performance & relationship management. To manage the Business Development function & achieve business targets through growing the existing business & through identifying new business opportunities & introducing & ensuring the implementation of new products & services. To act as the Visa representative & spokesperson in those markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Regional strategic planning

To manage the development of the market strategic plan by integrating & setting priorities based on information about the market, clients' business plans, Visa priorities & competitor activities. Identify success factors for progressive & dynamic business growth. Ensure that the plan is understood & shared by functional teams within Visa. Develop account plans for clients & achieve business objectives of clients & Visa through planned & well-executed initiatives.

Country Planning

Ensure the development of country plans & key account plans, with corresponding tactics & actions to achieve defined goals. Ensure consistency with the Middle East & International strategic plans. Ensure that all internal/ weekly/ monthly reports are carried out in a timely & regular fashion. Share purpose & objectives with staff members

Business Results

Accountable for achieving business targets through growing existing business CIF/PV/MV & developing new business opportunities. Monitor business results of the individual countries & member banks & anticipate challenges & take proactive measures to accomplish country targets.

Relationship Management

Develop, maintain & cultivate close relationships with decision-makers & senior management of member clients, partner companies, central banks & national banking associations. Understand their business strategies, priorities, needs & business processes, present to them strategic ideas & share Visa's views on industry developments & dynamics & advise them how Visa products can impact their results. Whenever required, be the senior Visa representative at Forums & other national Member meetings.

Market Knowledge

Monitor the development of the banking & financial services industry across the region, analyze trends & understand factors impacting current & potential business results of Visa. Maintain close contacts with national organisations & central banks & be aware of any developments which could present a threat to Visa.

To work with the business development & other resources in the office to deliver goals for the country.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or equivalent

  • Extensive sales, retail banking & cards experience & expertise

  • Experience including banking/financial services sector or sales/portfolio development & relationship management

Sales management experience

  • Excellent project management, strategic planning, analytical & budgeting skills

People Management

  • Management Experience & Experience of influencing/managing direct & non-direct reports.

  • Independent worker with guidance in only the more complex situations

  • Interpersonally credible, influential in dealings & sensitive to the multicultural environment

Technical

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Extensive knowledge of Visa, other payment systems, card products within & proven experience at liaising, presenting to, influencing & negotiating with senior level international & central bankers, regulators, merchants, media, domestic switches, third party vendors & other key external stakeholders

  • Ability to negotiate business agreements

  • Fluency in English.

  • Excellent knowledge of the & markets with sound contacts & network with key stakeholders

  • Effective presentation skills

  • Proven experience of dealing with the Press & other media

  • Superior analytical skills

Additional Information
