Appian is actively seeking a seasoned & passionate Industry Strategy Lead to drive go-to-market efforts for our Global Public Sector business. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with our key Public Sector market segmentsincluding Defense, Federal Civilian, & State & Local Governmentand a strong understanding of Appians technology ecosystem, including business process automation, low-code application development, & case management. 

This role will be located at Appian Headquarters in McLean, VA. 

To be successful in this role, you need:

  • An in-depth understanding of Public Sector buyers & their needs, & the ability to conduct systematic market research to craft & evolve Appians differentiated value proposition for government organizations.

  • The ability to produce creative, memorable, high-impact positioning, messaging, & content in support of go-to-market initiatives & product launches. 

  • A strong technical & sales orientation, & the ability to connect with & relate to both Product Management & Sales to act as the bridge between the two

  • The ability to collaborate across go-to-market functionsSales, Marketing, Product Management, & Customer Successand act as the central point of contact to drive stakeholder buy-in & ensure the success of all go-to-market efforts for Public Sector; experience leading multi-disciplinary go-to-market teams. 

  • Excellent presentation skills & stage presence to capture the imagination of internal & external audiences through public speaking engagements.

Basic qualifications: 

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline

  • 10+ years of B2G/B2B enterprise software/implementation experience in the Public Sector, esp. U.S. federal agencies

  • Experience in business process management (BPM), robotic process automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI), case management, Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), preferred
