What we do in SEM & Meta-Marketing: 

We are a world class Performance Marketing team that focuses on managing large scale marketing campaigns across all areas of travel. SEM & Meta Marketing (Google Hotel Ads) are crucial channels in our portfolio, & are ripe for disruption & tremendous growth, especially as we scale our revolutionary subscription program, Tripdadvisor Plus. We experiment, scale, & optimize world-wide initiatives, working closely with business, product, engineering, & brand.

What youll do:

We are looking for a Director to lead SEM & Mete Marketing for the Tripadvisor brand, world-wide.  This role has a highly visible set of responsibilities, developing the end to end strategy, & leading a team through execution across all product categories (hotels, experiences, vacation rentals, Tripadvisor Plus & all direct to consumer business lines). This leader will play an integral role in transforming the organization building direct relationships with our customers over the long term, & growing a subscription based business.

The Director will report to the Senior Director of Performance Marketing & work closely with other senior leaders to develop category specific marketing strategies & help scale new direct to consumer products.

The Director of SEM & Meta Marketing will be responsible for, among other things:

  • Develop & drive end to end marketing strategies for SEM & Hotels Ads

  • Act as a critical thought partner to the Senior Director of Performance Marketing & other senior leaders on the evolving role of performance marketing

  • Exceed ambitious but achievable profit & return on investment goals for the assigned channels across multiple sites, geographies, & languages

  • Lead & manage a highly experienced team of marketers, analysts, & data scientists

  • Partner with the dedicated engineering team to develop tools & features

  • Develop vendor relationship(s) to access best practices; work closely with existing vendors (Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, & more) to ensure quality advice & guidance

  • Track, analyze, & report on key performance metrics & identify areas of opportunity to improve KPIs across areas of responsibility

  • Work cross-functionally across consumer marketing, creative, product management, & development teams

  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity & outside-in thinking on best & evolving practices, & ensure the team is constantly at the edge of the newest high potential opportunities or ways of working

  • Advise on digital & marketing best practices, the latest tools & systems

What we are looking for? 

  • 10+ years of experience in Search Engine Marketing, with 7+ years in a leadership position, preferably owning very large budgets (8+ digits)

  • Experience working closely with engineering & data science partners to develop custom tools & strategies to maximize performance

  • Deep understanding & experience with bidding tactics & tools, demonstrating depth & breadth of strategic & tactical knowledge of how different strategies channels can drive customer & business goals

  • Deep understanding of the multiple tenets of customer acquisition costs. Can speak to broader business & financial implications & planning of customer acquisition costs vs lifetime value per customer ratio

  • Deep understanding & experience in leveraging 1st & 3rd party data, & in dealing with ever changing privacy regulations across geos

  • Excellent leadership skills with experience managing teams remotely & working successfully cross-functionality

  • Proven ability to execute in a fast paced environment results oriented with roll-up-the-sleeves attitude

  • Exceptional problem solving, communication, & analytical skills

  • Ability to think & act creatively, strategically, & tactically

  • Strong, relentless attention & focus to details

  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects at one-time with very little direction

  • Strong proficiency in a multitude of performance marketing tools & platforms

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, mindset & work ethic are a must
