Sr. Program Manager

Overview of Role

This individual will be responsible for leading the execution & delivery of high impact, high visibility projects that are cross functional in nature. The Senior Program Manager will coordinate the work of the project team, build, & maintain schedules for required results within projects, track project dependencies, maintain & present status of the projects, track, & address risks/issues, among other duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with project sponsor & cross-functional teams, to plan & develop scope, deliverables, required resources, project plan, budget, & timing for cross-functional, enterprise-wide projects.
  • Lead & encourage cross functional teams to achieve successful execution of company projects, leading & communicating the vision, purpose, & guiding principles as determined by the ET.
  • Provide regular updates to project teams, leadership, & executive team on status, risks, & accomplishments.
  • Identify key requirements needed from cross-functional teams & external vendors as appropriate.
  • Work cross-functionally to be responsible for dependencies within projects to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Analyze project risks & develop risk mitigation plans to ensure stable execution, while maintaining sight of dependencies & end-state deliverables.
  • Ensure partner engagement & approval by establishing clear project-specific approval process, decision tracking, & cadenced demos & updates.
  • Partner with team members on organizational change & adoption of improved processes, conducting post-mortems at beneficial stages of delivery.
  • Key contributor to building & enhancing our project management frameworks & standard methodologies to facilitate visible status tracking & efficient execution.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Experience required:

  • Demonstrated ability leading medium-to-large projects & programs in a project management function.
  • Experience in implementing enterprise-wide initiatives. Able to define project plans, coordinate assets, run all project activities, & develop processes associated with program rollout.
  • Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, & organizational skills.
  • Outstanding working understanding of organizational change principles & project performance evaluation processes.
  • Experience working with engineering & product teams; comfortable working with technical teams.
  • Experience monitoring & managing vendor performance.
  • Relentlessly focused on incremental delivery, which is a staple of CarGurus culture.
  • Comfortable exercising judgement & using problem solving skills in ambiguous situations.
  • Experience in developing teams.
