Senior Manager, Inventory & Production Control

Location: Columbus, OH;  Cincinnati, OH;  New York, NY;  Seattle, WA

WHO WERE LOOKING FOR

Were seeking  an experienced Fulfillment & Distribution expert who is passionate about Inventory Control!  The Fulfillment Team at Bark has the massive task of ensuring our FCs & 3PL partners are set up for ultimate success.  This entails a drive & willingness to establish structure & consistency amongst all inventory related movement & metrics.  This person isnt afraid to roll up their sleeves & get into the weeds of any facet of the operation if it means learning, establishing processes, diving deep into data,  holding upstream partners accountable, or helping & managing internal customers. At the same time, this person knows how to zoom out, identify areas of risk & potential improvement, & act swiftly to improve whatever isnt working perfectly. Inventory Integrity is the engine that drives Barks ability to ensure NO Dog goes unserved.

KEY DUTIES

  • Design, implement & lead Barks Fulfillment Inventory Control program that includes regular cycle counting, urgent verifications, accuracy reporting, root cause analysis, & data-based feedback to the operations teams across all 3P partners & Bark owned FCs.
  • Establish & improve-upon Barks Inventory Guidelines that are consistent with Food & Subscription industry best practices & meet all standards associated with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations.
  • Work in direct partnership with accounting, finance, & internal audit departments to ensure clear communication & alignment between Inventory Control policies & corporate objectives.
  • Develop reporting tools & metrics that can be used to guide & track operational improvements, stronger process controls, shrink compliance, & to identify solutions for other financial risk opportunities.
  • Regularly communicate Inventory Accuracy progress, trends, & actions with senior-level company executives.
  • Plan, coordinate & lead quarterly & annual physical inventory events as directed by the Finance team, external auditors, & internal operational needs.
  • Build & lead a skilled team of an inventory leadership team that works well cross-functionally with other internal operational teams + 3PL partners.
  • Identify & facilitate resolution of inventory process gaps to demonstrate a controlled environment using continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Support all aspects of Production Control within the FC network in developing an Inventory Management vision.
  • Own cycle count execution at all facilities, including improvement of inventory accuracy as measured through accuracy of cycle count - expected count vs actual count.
  • Create & implement SOPs for frequency & quantity of cycles counts, monitoring of cycle count adjustments,  quantity thresholds for escalation & investigation, required resolution SLA & root cause analysis reporting
  • Create SOPs for tracking lost & damaged inventory associated with production activity.   Owns reduction of lost inventory over time.
  • Creates process for & facilitates built kit audit.  Owns improvement of kit build accuracy as measured by % incorrect kits/ total kits audited
  • Creates process for & facilitates operational audit of kitting line operations quarterly.
  • Work with internal IT teams to ensure the accuracy & efficacy of all inventory management systems.
  • 30% Travel supporting network Fulfillment Centers

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years supply chain experience-required with a focus in retail distribution, e-commerce, & subscription fulfillment
  • 7+ years of management experience, including exempt leaders in an IC/QA leadership role
  • Food, consumables, & direct 3PL partnership experience a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of warehouse management systems
    • NetSuite
    • WMS applications (AS400, SAP)
  • Measured success across all IC related KPIs, specifically site shrink & annual PI results  
  • Proven track record for leading change management across large work groups
  • Thorough understanding of inventory integrity, its financial/operational tie across business & operational processes along w/ the Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements for supply chain inventory
  • In-depth knowledge of inventory & quality control principles, processes, metrics, tools, & problem-solving techniques required to design scalable & auditable programs across a fulfillment network
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, quantitative, & analytical skills
  • Strong process documentation, procedure, & quality background
  • Obsession with dogs & dog puns; you love dogs so much that some people think you have a problem.

**This compensation range is based on BARKs good faith estimate as of the date of this posting & may be modified in the future. Actual pay for this position will depend on a variety of variables including location, travel, internal equity, experience, education, skills & expertise.
