THE POSITION

FanDuel Group is looking to add to its Legal & Regulatory team a Risk Manager professional reporting to the Director of Risk to work on implementation of Fan Duels new Risk organization for its businesses. The Risk Manager will need to understand the role of Risk in a start-up environment as well as in a mature highly regulated environment & be experienced in the change management of building & documenting a risk operation. The Risk Manager will work with the business to identify, assess, document & regularly review processes & risks. The Risk Manager with work with the Director of Risk on documenting controls, writing policies & procedures, conducting risk assessment, documenting risk strategy, documenting framework/ appetite, designing & implementing controls, & risk mitigation plans; & assist in developing key risk indicators for the business. The Risk Manager will need to possess technical risk management skills, including but not limited to engagement with enterprise risk management tools.  The Risk Manager will work with the Director of Risk & a team of Risk Managers to partner with the business & functions to design & document controls throughout the organization.

This position will work with a fantastic team of Legal, Regulatory & Compliance professionals to work on the implementation of the risk management & compliance framework.  This role will:

  • Be the face to the business for Risk Management
  • Establish & oversee the application of risk & controls; document policies, procedures, job aides & assessments; & governance processes to create a robust control environment
  • Provide risk & compliance support in an evolving & increasingly complex regulatory environment for the commercial business & across FanDuel
  • Partner with business to identify gaps in risk & compliance, & address those by implementing systems, procedures, & controls & working with business systems to implement them
  • Have experience using an enterprise risk management tool to provide risk analytics & reporting
  • Provide guidance on other risk & compliance topics relevant to FanDuel
  • Execute an effective monitoring & testing program for internal controls for the commercial business
  • Work with other control leaders to identify, leverage & implement best practices across FanDuel to strengthen control programs
  • Engage with all levels of the organization to assist the building out of an effective first line of defense culture with appropriate documentation, controls & measurement
  • Advise on appropriate process improvements to support an effective & efficient Risk department
  • Work closely with Director of Risk to enhance & scale risk management across FanDuel & in partnership with the parent company
  • Build strong professional relationships with the leadership in the business
  • Liaise with external advisors as required
  • Provide value-adding advice & expertise on risk management to all departments & stakeholders

Superior analytical, strategic, communication, interpersonal & writing skills are of paramount importance, as is a strong work ethic, commitment to being a team player, & an aptitude to learn quickly the nuances of a highly regulated technology & media business. 

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • Once hired, the Risk Manager may be required to obtain licenses from various jurisdictions in order to represent FanDuel before regulators in those jurisdictions
  • At least 5 years of total risk experience, preferably in risk, compliance, or internal audit
  • A strong aptitude for documenting process, policies, & procedure, analytics & reporting
  • Experience writing risk & compliance policies & procedures & drafting executive summaries on business processes
  • Program & project implementation experience a must
  • Working as a consultant covering risk, compliance or audit work a plus
  • Project management skills a plus
  • Passion to work hard in a fast-paced, start-up environment
  • An exceptional team builder & team player
  • A self-starter with energy to follow-through & own the outcome
