The Basics:

At Tanium, our Director of Enterprise Services serves as the administrative & para-tactical leader of their respective region or vertical. They are in a position of service delivery leadership of a team of incredibly talented engineers, project managers, & integrators & charged with, first & foremost, preserving the incredible culture upon which Tanium was built.

Working closely with their team, peers, & sales, the Director, ESO is expected to not only have world-class leadership skills, but also maintain a litany of other knowledge, skills, & abilities distinct to the successful operation of a professional services organization. As a Director, ESO, you will be faced with an endless series of difficult problems to tackle as our customers revolutionize enterprise operations & security with Tanium. Because this position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities & opportunities, we seek exceptionally versatile candidates with demonstrable acumen in each of the below areas.

Above all, previous hands-on customer & specialist expectation management & exceptional leadership of fellow technologists is a must. You will lead engagements with the customer through coordination with & support of the sales team from the pre-sales engagement phase, the kickoff phase, & through the life of the contract.

What youll do:

  • Para-Tactical Leadership:

    • Work with the leaders of gaining organizations to ensure;
      • Customer needs are assessed in partnership with TAM & ESO leadership to ensure skill alignment among candidates match requirements & communicate these needs to recruiting
      • Customer needs are hired against in partnership with TAM & ESO leadership
      • ESO staff are meeting the requirements of both the customer & the team (e.g., JQR.,onboarding, training, etc.)
      • ESO staff maintain their training (both internal & annual elective) to augment their work at the customer
      • Rapid resource allocation/cross-leveling abilities in times of surge support
    • Understand the totality of customer demand, both inbound & on contract, in your area of responsibility (AoR) & how to properly apply ESO staff member resources & recruiting to meet contracted & forecasted demand
    • Consistently & cogently address our customers needs through astute verbal & written communication skills
    • Thrive in a team-oriented culture through delivering a significant individual contribution while collaborating with & strengthening teammates
    • Think critically, spanning the sales process through customer support, creatively & diplomatically addressing situations that arise
    • Work closely with TAMs, CSMs, Sales & ESO staff on improving Tanium operational status within assigned accounts
    • Articulate the Tanium technology & value prop to a customer or prospect
    • Expected Light travel as required with potential for a surge to 25% on occasion

    Administrative Leadership: 

    • Coordinate ESO/TAM staff involvement in, & locations of, onsite recruiting events for targeted and/or surge recruiting efforts
    • Ensure & maintain the technical fundamentals assessment curriculum used in the recruitment screening
    • Work with internal back-office supporting organizations in order to ensure resource based constraints are mitigated or escalated to meet demand & fulfill rapid on-boarding & placement of ESO staff
    • Understand, preserve, & further the Tanium TAM culture among the team you lead
    • Understand the knowledge, skills, abilities, strengths, & opportunities of each ESO staff member in the region
    • Leadership of a highly diverse team made of engineers, technical writers, & project managers to include
      • Ongoing one on one sessions for the purposes of performance review
      • Assessment & recommendation for the purposes of promotion, merit increase, etc.
      • Career planning, training focus & identification of weaknesses & planning to mitigate/overcome
    • Work with Finance business partners & ESO leadership to track & report against the P&L
    • Actively look for ways to improve process efficiencies & effectiveness 
    • Ability to apply strategic thinking & demonstrate an understanding of requirements to execute
    • Ability to make decisions guided by policies, procedures & business plan with limited guidance
    • Deep, systematic problem-solving skills
    • Sustained record demonstrating initiative, motivation & strong work ethic with the ability to imbue others with these traits
    • Demonstrated dependability, team player, positive attitude & good attendance
    • Person of high ethics, integrity, honesty, & patience who provides an environment of safety & security for those in their charge

Were looking for someone with:

  • Education
    • BA/ BS or equivalent experience required
  • Experience
    • 10+ years of technical or professional services industry experience preferred
    • 5+ years of people management experience preferred 
    • Naturally team-oriented with a mission-first attitude
    • Demonstrates the ability to lead a highly diverse team successfully
    • Demonstrates critical thinking skills
    • Demonstrates initiative & motivation
    • Excellent oral & written communication skills
    • Person of high ethics & integrity
