We are more than just another tech company. There is an intellectual curiosity that occurs at Drizly. We have a desire to question, to understand, to figure it out. Bottom line, we solve it. We value not just the truth but the process to get to the truth, to deliberate, decide & then act. Most importantly, we care. We care about our customer. We care about our company. We care about our team. There will be long days & incredible challenges.
We are blazing a trail in an industry that hasn't changed in nearly a century, & that doesn't scare us (well, not all the time) -and even when it does, it doesn't stop us, it energizes us.

Who you are
You are a tech-savvy engineer that thrives on building things with real-world applications that you & your friends could talk about. Comfort with learning & adopting new technologies helps you keep your technical skills fresh, so you're someone who's comfortable experimenting until you find the tech that works. You manage complexity by approaching problems with curiosity to define issues before acting on solutions. You have the experience, instincts, & analytical mindset to make quality, timely decisions.
Coworkers would describe you as a flexible, open communicator that can balance taking action with driving results & you know/can clearly articulate the difference. You are also someone who takes personal responsibility for your work & holds others accountable to do the same.
You are passionate about designing systems that power great end-user experiences. You care deeply about system performance, especially where it impacts customers. You have worked in environments where you owned system design from the database to the API. You enjoy discussing these decisions with your peers & can explain their significance to external stakeholders.
You enjoy providing technical guidance to more junior team members. You are constantly looking for ways to improve the team's development practices. You are a believer in the value of thorough code review & test coverage.
You ideally have three to five years of experience working with backend web technologies. We write most of our core systems in Ruby, but we are flexible on your specific experience; we care more about general engineering acumen than any specific tech. We would be really impressed if you had experience in eCommerce, payment systems, or the food & beverage technology space.
What the role is
In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will be an integral part of the engineering team, responsible for executing on our product roadmaps against the back-end of our consumer & retailer (think liquor store operations) tools with aggressive timelines during rapid growth. By partnering closely with product managers, customer experience, sales, & account management teams, you will balance having your hands on the keyboard with leading design discussions for large projects & informing some of our largest decisions. You will also recommend new ways of doing things as we expect Senior Software Engineers to raise the bar for the team.
Please note: this role can be performed remotely anywhere in the United States with the exception of Colorado.
