About the role:

Peloton is seeking a Senior Product Specialist, Apparel to join our team in New York. This role is responsible for driving innovation in construction while overseeing garment specifications & standards for Performance Product categories with a focus on sports bras.  This role will own product specifications from concept stage through final production/TOP approval stage in partnership with Design & Product Development.  The Product Specialist leads fit sessions, owns product risk assessments, manages fit approvals, & influences workflow for their specified garment category.  The Apparel Performance Product Specialist will drive a high level of internal & external communication & bring an expertise in technical & patternmaking knowledge & problem solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop & maintain blocks for tech pack creation & confirm all final grade rules
  • Ensure a robust design development hand off takes place with all the appropriate components to build a complete tech pack.
  • Manage a Technical Designer specialized in Performance Fit to support fit comments, tech pack creation & product management
  • Provide technical insight into new silhouette development, component development & manage brand block creation
  • Partners with Design & Production to offer options to meet design intent & construction requirements
  • Create tech packs in PLM for suppliers to properly execute sampling/production to Design intent including construction detail sketches
  • Experience in engineering prints & printmaking processes with the ability to mitigate issues that may arise in bulk production.
  • Strong understanding & working knowledge of performance knit fabrics, experience partnering with material team on specifications of modulus stretch & elongation in relation to fit
  • Experience with patent & proprietary component development in the bra category
  • Hands on working knowledge of production line set up & guidance to factory line managers on improvements to achieve construction techniques
  • Working knowledge of bonding & seam sealing materials & machinery
  • Partner in testing requirements for bonded styles & consumer care
  • Expertise in fitting with live models, advise risks with construction, fit & execution
  • Responsible for physical garment measuring, external & internal garment evaluations.
  • Ensure consistent construction from to vendor to vendor on like styles
  • Creates & maintain an inner component library & construction manual for a Apparel performance product to ensure consistency of product across all vendors.
  • E-mail, phone & video conference communication with sourcing offices & suppliers

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Degree or Certification in Apparel Manufacturing, Design, Patternmaking or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years in Technical Design
  • Proven managerial experience
  • Expertise in patternmaking, grading, sewing/construction with an emphasis on Performance Bras & Leggings & bra pad development
  • Proven ability to successfully manage a complex category while making a products quality & seasonal deliverables a priority.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Proven organizational skills & ability to manage competing priorities & direct reports
  • Strong sense of urgency, attention to detail & resourcefulness.
  • Ability to proactively problem solve
  • Knowledge of 3D programs a plus
