Business Development Grants Manager

The Business Development Grants Manager is an integral part of the Strategic Partnerships team, charged with building a portfolio of transformative R&D partnerships. This role advances AeroFarms R&D by identifying grant funding, building relationships within the grant funding community, developing effective proposals & grant submissions, & establishing sustainable funding sources.


Create new grant funding partnerships in alignment with our strategic R&D goals

  • Understand funder priorities & giving areas
  • Develop solutions that address these priorities
  • Write applications & develop budgets, including cost share mechanisms
  • Collaborate with AeroFarms functions to identify risks, define project phases, facilitate engineering designs & experiment plans, & negotiate IP & budgets
  • Secure new sources of project funding

Build multi-stage projects with grant funding partners based on shared goals

  • Build high-value relationships with granting agencies, governmental entities, partner organizations, & other relevant trusts & foundations.
  • Secure continuous project funding by developing long-term alliances that demonstrate value
  • Identify & prioritize strategic partnering opportunities through a combination of research, financial analysis, & a deep understanding of how AeroFarms technology & capabilities can grow the best plants possible for the betterment of humanity

Represent the Strategic Partnerships vision & value proposition

  • To internal stakeholders, including leadership & across departments
  • To external stakeholders through conferences & events

You have:

           5+ years securing grant funding for for-profit companies

           Experience working in a partnership-focused organization

  • Extensive federal & governmental grant relationships & experience
  • Track record of securing follow-on funding & growing funder relationships & commitments

           Experience developing project budgets

           Excellent presentation & interpersonal communication skills

           Strategy development experience, including identifying trends, segmenting markets, & developing offerings in alignment with funding priorities

           Ability to translate complex scientific processes into a clear value proposition

You may also have:

           A focus within the agriculture, agtech, or food industries

           Technical or consultative sales experience (e.g., SAAS, medical equipment)

  • Public speaking experience
  • Previous experience working at a funding agency

           Experience with project management, including breaking down a project into specific activities & milestones

  • Experience identifying funding opportunities with private foundations

           Background or degree in science or engineering


** This position involves up to 25% travel**
