Lyft is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Accounting team as a Payroll Manager. This candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic & rapidly changing environment. This role will manage the daily operations of the U.S. payroll functions, ensuring all payments made to our 5,000+ employees are accurate, timely, & in accordance with all federal, state & local tax regulations. In addition, this role will be responsible for cross-functional, collaborative efforts to improve & enhance current payroll processes, prepare & develop a variety of reports for external & internal resources, ensure accurate tax filings, as well as ensure the policies & procedures for the payroll department are documented & in compliance with SOX.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the disbursement of US payrolls, including benefits, taxes, 401K activity, incentives/bonuses, as well as any other related compensation adjustments to 5,000+ employees, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, & local county regulations
  • Establish a process for monthly & transactional control reviews to ensure payroll processes are compliant with established department internal controls & SOX
  • Ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions & terminations are completed accurately, timely & in compliance with regulations
  • Manage the reporting from Workday HRIS & ADP Workforce Now as it relates to gross payroll, tax deductions, benefit deductions & employee status change requests, to ensure consistency between systems & with source records
  • Manage, mentor & coach a team of 4 Payroll Specialists
  • Lead, recommend & participate in projects to continually review & improve current processes & internal controls
  • Manage & audit W-2s & yearly administration of payroll in preparation of the following calendar year
  • Build & nurture strong working relationships with all levels of the organization. Work closely with key clients, 3rd party providers, HR, Finance, Accounting, & others to resolve issues & drive end-to-end process improvements
  • Maintain communication with payroll service providers regarding software updates & new products available to be able to initiate the use of new features along with HR, provide oversight of 401(k) contributions & loan payments

Experience:

  • BS degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in payroll
  • 3+ years of experience managing teams
  • Excellent organization, oral & written communication skills
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Excel & Word
  • Prior Workday & ADP experience, including Time & Attendance, required; experience with Oracle strongly preferred
