Job Description

Global Strategic Initiatives is working to assess & act on multiple strategic opportunities that will have a meaningful impact at Visa. To pursue this ambition, we are looking for an experienced program leader who is passionate about solving complex problems & identifying new & innovative solutions to promote Visa's strategic goals. This program leader will work with internal resources, external resources & stakeholders, & clients to identify & prioritize opportunities for each initiative, develop program solutions, & support the execution of programs' launch & roll-out. The role will be critical to the coordinated execution of Visa's multi-work stream response to market, technology, & regulatory changes around the world.

This is a matrixed, cross-functional role so organizational savvy & strong interpersonal skills are critical. This leader will interface with multiple global teams across Visa including product groups, financial institution sales, merchant sales, Visa consulting, operations, technology, risk, analytics, marketing & corporate communications, public policy, & government relations to coordinate the build, launch, & support of new & existing policies, programs, & products. Visa is looking for individuals that are driven & have a strong orientation towards product commercialization & marketplace impact. This project leader should have a proven track record of success in fast-paced environments with demanding timelines.


  • For each initiative, manage a strategic roadmap to drive the creation & execution of multiple new programs & services, as well as triage additions/changes to the roadmap, as needed. Scope includes:

    • Be fully responsible for the development of strategic concepts, the testing of the relevant business cases, & the execution success of product development strategy, innovation launch, & commercialization

    • Partner with relevant areas of the organization to assess & understand the marketplace dynamics & opportunities around the initiative

    • Partner with finance, strategy, legal, & other functions to define pricing strategy, pricing model, & incentives approaches, as applicable

    • Define the business case for funding, build internal support, design the execution roadmap & establish success metrics

    • Collaborate with Product Management, Data Products, Global Systems, Market Leadership, & others to develop the detailed product requirements & execute the technology build (if required for the initiative)

    • Effectively communicate the commercialization roadmap across the organization

    • Establish program & work across Sales, Marketing, Risk, & Customer Support to fulfill product & launch objectives

    • Define, coordinate, & manage customer support strategy & execution

    • Be a thought leader for developing the Visa approach to the initiative, relevant business plans & overall development roadmap

  • Support the development of required policies & infrastructure

  • Develop presentations & facilitate update meetings with the senior leadership team & actively manage organizational expectations regarding product & enhancement rollouts

  • Build external relationship with current & future potential partners to support the initiative




  • 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree; 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD); or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD


  • Self-starter with a bias toward action & proven track record for successfully developing, building, launching, & commercializing new technology products

  • 12+ years of experience, including at least six years of experience leading product management, project management & or management consulting

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to drive cross-organizational collaboration

  • Demonstrated thought leadership & the aptitude to think creatively & identify new ways to innovate & differentiate products with evidence of tangible business results

  • Passionate about what you do & fired up about the opportunity to pursue each strategic initiative with a strong sense of mission as you are working for the industry leader

  • Ability to inspire direct reports, where applicable, & influence those without direct management responsibility

  • Be a steward for talent with diverse backgrounds & skills by cultivating an inclusive environment that motivates the team to be innovative & strive for excellence

  • Possess a high level of professionalism & leadership skills to build business relationships, trust, & respect with business partners & suppliers

  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, & listening; Engaging & fluent presentation skills necessary

  • Proven project development experience

  • Strong sense of urgency & experience driving to successful commercialization

  • Has management capabilities to ensure personal efforts are integrated & aligned with functional objectives

  • Strong collaboration & influence skills to effectively lead cross-functional teams to drive deliverables, projects, & engagements to completion

  • Take prompt, decisive action after analyzing relevant information

  • Ability to explain complex business & technical concepts to broad audiences in an approachable way

  • Comfort working closely with Engineering and/or Systems Architects required

  • Experience partnering with technologists using Agile or other expedited design & development methodologies preferred

  • Project Management certification a plus

  • Financial services industry knowledge is a plus, but not required

Additional Information

Work Hours:

  • Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires the incumbent to travel for work30% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit & stand at a desk, communicate in person & by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones & computers, reach with hands & arms, & bend or lift up to 25 pounds
