As the Director of Product Design, you will manage & lead a team of UX/UI Designers during an exciting phase of growth at CLEAR as we build out our platform vision & expand our offerings across industries for both B2C & B2B experiences. You will be responsible for the definition, design + delivery of our UX/UI that delivers above & beyond our promise of creating trusted, secure & frictionless experiences for our members & business customers. We are seeking a seasoned Design Leader that can guide the evolution of our practice to elevate Design Quality from early-stage concepts & product strategy all the way to detailed design hand-offs & QA. In this role, you will help scale the capabilities, scope + influence of Design so that all of CLEAR product offerings + UI are infused with ingenuity & executed with the highest level of craft. You are adept at shaping complex user experiences, architecting solutions across a variety of touchpoints/channels + for a mix of users & scenarios within varying environments and/or constraints.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide oversight of UX/UI across all phases of the Product Design process including: concept explorations, user flows, visual design & prototyping
  • Define + operationalize best practices to improve end-to-end collaboration with partners throughout the product development lifecycle, & ensure that team has a high bar of craft & system thinking
  • Oversee multiple projects & scale design resources accordingly, so that Design is set up for success with the right capacity + clear goals for delivering to our commitments + biggest priorities.
  • Have responsibility for digital Product Design team performance & health, resource allocation, project prioritization, & building a culture of design excellence
  • Build strong relationships with Product + Engineering partners + leadership to identify a clear, stable roadmap of the right Design work for our highest business priorities + objectives.
  • Be a champion for Design with executive leadership & model how Design Leadership can positively embody our company values of having a bias for action, fearlessly speaking up, embracing change, & being indefatigable.
  • Enable our Designers to learn, grow, experiment & thrive so they operate from a sense of purpose & passion with deep pride in what we create for CLEAR & our users. 
  • Partner with practice leads in UX Research + Industrial Design to shape & support a culture of trust where we all can challenge, inspire & encourage one another to proudly ship the best work of our careers.

Who You Are:

  • 8+ years of experience in digital Product Design (UX/UI)
  • 3+ years experience managing, shaping + growing teams totaling no less than 5 individual contributors
  • Experience leading end-to-end Product Design from Discovery to Delivery across both mobile + web
  • Have a portfolio that showcases how youve enabled teams to produce exceptional design work that meets business objectives.
  • Experience with early-stage exploration efforts as well as scaled execution approaches & Lean/Agile methodologies.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively with partners to shape product direction & influence strategic thinking, prioritization, & roadmaps
  • Effective communicator that can lead/direct group conversations to drive alignment on actionable next steps + clear outcomes. 
  • Strong proficiency with modern design/prototyping tools, eg Figma (or Sketch)
  • Strong understanding of Experience Metrics
