The Worldwide Financial Controller is a fantastic role for a candidate looking to take a global position in a fast-paced agency.  This position is responsible for managing the global reporting, financial planning & analysis for all offices at Landor & Fitch. In addition the role is responsible for ensuring all offices comply with WPP & IFRS policies.

Part of the role is to streamline & consolidate data from the all the offices into a unified worldwide view. They would also be a source of knowledge of WPP systems, IFRS reporting, SOX & tax & provide mentorship to local finance teams.

The successful candidate will be a reliable source of expertise with a helpful & calm approach to manage daily challenges & queries. The role will also have direct reports, so theyll need to inspire & motivate the Global Finance team.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Global reporting

  • Review results submitted monthly, quarterly (forecasts) & annually (budget): analysis of P&L & Balance Sheet movements & NWC performance.
  • Global consolidation of Landor & Fitch results
  • Preparation & review of monthly commentary to WPP
  • Ensure accuracy & integrity of finance department outputs
  • Plan & oversee forecast cycle
  • Build & manage global budget for central teams
  • Responsible for ensuring that the finance team meet deadlines & timetables set.
  • Oversee adherence to IFRS & WPP reporting standards
  • Liaise with parent company in both London & New York on various matters including accounting (from both a local & IFRS perspective), earn-out calculations, Fair value, & Goodwill impairment reviews & roll-out of new accounting standards & monitor compliance,
  • Management of all other quarterly reports & ad-hoc reporting requirements

Corporate units

  • Ultimately responsible for all aspects of reporting & forecasting of the corporate units
  • Signing off monthly management accounts
  • Tracking large corporate initiatives & functional budgets (Marketing, Talent)
  • Manage external, internal, client audits run smoothly with finance team
  • Regular review of processes to ensure that they are fit for purpose
  • Oversight of statutory / regulatory returns such as, accounts, VAT, P11D, PSA, R&D Tax Credit preparation
  • Ensure monthly payroll is accurate

NWC

  • Responsible for monthly net working capital analysis & metrics (NWC)
  • Monitor progress of NWC vs WPP targets
  • Forecasting NWC trends & cash collection targets
  • Attending NWC meeting with WPP controller

SOX

  • Deep understanding of WPP SOX controls & processes
  • Ensure that the required evidence is maintained for month end
  • Assist Global Risk Director with completion of opcos SOX requirements
  • Approval of SOX quarterly packs
  • Ownership of Regional & Worldwide controls

Systems (Maconomy & SAP BFC)

Maconomy is our accounting tool & SAP BFC is our global WPP reporting tool

  • Managing global COA & Business Objects reports in Maconomy
  • Audit existing SAP BFC units structure creating / removing units as necessary
  • Approval of new users & changes to access rights, e.g. Maconomy, SAP
  • Ensure changes to systems are communicated to all finance teams

Other

  • Management of agency Amex card account & delinquency reports
  • Distribution & interpretation of control bulletins from WPP to local offices
  • Part of the WW Finance Controllers community
  • Assist in the management of real estate leases within Costar system
  • Support offices with transfer pricing & other tax regulations
  • Review & approval of global overhead recharges
  • Tracking legal structure & trademarks

Required Experience

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
  • Post qualification experience in finance function, leading a team & ideally with an accountancy practice background.
  • Leadership experience including team development skills
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced environment & comfortable navigating organisational/geographical complexity.
  • Previous branding agency environment advantageous.
  • Demonstrates passion, creativity, & resourcefulness.
  • Passionate about being culturally connected & on the leading edge of brands, marketing, & design.
