We are Netflix's Editorial team. A team of storytellers, editors, producers & writers, all of us huge fans of entertainment. We're creating a whole new approach to talking about entertainment. Our mission is to build the most influential entertainment media & publishing network that brings joy to fans around the world.
We want to make content for our content that is as entertaining off Netflix as it is on Netflix. To make content that brings communities together over shared passions. Content that helps our fans discover new shows & movies & talent or fall more deeply in love with something they've already seen.
Today we have 250 million fans on our social platforms globally, 150 thousand new global followers daily, & 10 billion global impressions per quarter. For context, that's twice the population of Japan in fans, twice the size of a stadium in new daily followers, & more than twice the number of pages on the internet in impressions each quarter. But we're just getting started.
Though part of the larger marketing organization, our team's work is unique in that we express a perspective on content the way an editorial media outlet would. You'll be looking at new ways to talk about both our licensed & original Anime content & have a great skill for bringing these stories & narratives into the news cycle & social zeitgeist through editorial content.
In this role, you will be responsible for launching, defining, & guiding the tone of voice, platform strategy, programming, & production strategies for key social & digital publishing platforms. To be a successful editorial leader, you'll need to be a storyteller at heart, & have excellent judgment to balance the needs of the community & the needs of our business. Experience in social & digital editorial content curation & creation is a must as well as the ability to strategize, ideate, & build with partners across Netflix.
This is a people management position. You will lead & mentor a team of Netflix employees, & will need to inspire our highly skilled group of editorial & brand experts to perform their best. We're seeking someone with a high emotional intelligence, who can navigate the intersection of Netflix & Japanese business cultures. The right leader will guide the team as they bring the joy of the service into fans newsfeeds, drive news, help members discover new shows, & build the brand reputation.
The position requires strong partnership & collaboration with other Japan & global leaders in marketing & comms, content, biz dev & product.
Netflix is an entrepreneurial environment. We'll look for someone that can set a vision for Anime in Japan & globally, & respond to cultural & consumer trends, as well as shifts in our local business needs. The leader will be comfortable using data to make informed judgements. They will be responsible for developing new audiences, no matter where they spend their time.
You'll have a deep passion, appreciation, & understanding of Anime, with a depth & breadth of knowledge about the Anime entertainment world & its evolution from a domestic industry into an international phenomenon. You are comfortable operating within the traditions of the entertainment industry, but keen to push its boundaries & willing to take risks where others won't. You'll be trusted to have your finger on the pulse of the Anime fandom. You understand what makes Anime stories tick & why people around the world love them so deeply. As a fan, you are attuned to what sparks the connection between a show & its fandom. You live for that spark.
