Job Description

The Production Editor, Written is responsible for managing written content creation from beginning to end of the production lifecycle. Equal parts reviewer, problem solver, & project manager, the Production Editor is accountable for delivering high-quality content on schedule. This may include educating authors in writing & instructional design best practices, reviewing submitted materials, proofreading guides including related metadata, & publishing content to Pluralsight's library.

Ideal candidates come from a background in editing & proofreading, & also have an interest in working directly with authors, establishing flow-efficient processes, & managing production schedules. Experience with technical writing is a major benefit in this role.

  • Working directly with authors to coordinate & assign objectives & approve submissions

  • Inspiring authors to create more content through ongoing engagement

  • Enabling authors by providing access to training materials

  • Onboarding authors, including contracts

  • Day-to-day support to internal & external authors during the written content creation process

  • Entering & maintaining written opportunities & related Salesforce data

  • Helping to define quality standards for written content

  • Ensuring written content meets the defined quality standards

  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement, using data to measure impact

  • Reviewing all written content before final publication to ensure quality of content & user experience. This may include: reviewing meta-data, URLs, tags, technical tasks, images, spelling, grammar, & reviewing code

  • Evaluating written content & determining which edits are required before publishing; communicating with authors about feedback

  • Leading & training contractors or other editors


  • Proofreading & editing documents in the English language

  • Building, developing, & maintaining relationships (including with technology professionals)

  • Delivery of production content on a regular cadence, in a timely manner, & at scale - you're able to follow up on commitments & hit deadlines


  • Technical writing in a software or IT environment

  • Curriculum planning

  • Instructional design

  • Salesforce reporting
