GitHub is looking for an Intelligence Analyst to assist in protecting GitHub personnel, facilities, & operations from human & natural threats. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Intelligence & Protective Services.

If you have a demonstrated record in open source research, strong written & verbal communication skills, & are comfortable working on multiple projects to solve complex security problems, we want to hear from you!

About the Role

The goal of the Intelligence & Protective Services team is to provide accurate, relevant, insightful, & timely analysis in support of executive protection, physical security operations, crisis management, business operations, & enterprise risk. The scope of the work is global & ranges from investigations of local incidents that may impact one employee to geopolitical risks that involve the entire company. 

That is accomplished, in part, through our travel security, facility & incident management systems & crisis management protocols as well as developing strategic partnerships with private & public sector entities & independent research & analysis to be delivered to a range of audiences throughout the company.


  • Develop & maintain subject matter expertise in a portfolio of threat profiles, activity, & trends that threaten GitHub, its employees, & members from all available sources (open source, Agency feeds, commercial feeds, & dark web).
  • Be highly proficient in Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) methodologies
    Provide actionable information by compiling, analyzing & disseminating, concise analysis & warning products in written & presentation form to key internal stakeholders.
  • Provide analytic support to the GitHub teams at all levels on security-related issues.
    Create analytic products to provide senior leadership with warnings about future geostrategic threats to GitHub operations.
  • Provide intelligence support & assistance to Crisis Management, Physical Security, Event Security, Threat & Risk Management & other functions as required.
  • Conduct risk assessments for special events & executive travel.
  • Build strategic relationships with government & private sector entities to support the GitHub mission.
  • Provide investigative support & expertise for matters requiring focused attention
  • Perform data analysis to support risk assessments & threat identification.
  • Monitor & report on risk to our leadership team & employees


  • MA/MS or equivalent work experience
  • Strong Open Source Intelligence tools & methodologies
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work & resource deployment
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office & G Suite

Preferred experience:

  • International experience or experience working for a global organization
  • Written & spoken fluency in a language additional to English
