Overview
As Director, Product Marketing, you are a strategic leader responsible for driving the success of the companys product portfolio through comprehensive go-to-market strategies, impactful messaging, & market differentiation. Working cross-functionally with Product, Sales, Marketing, & Customer Success, you will define & execute initiatives that amplify product value, fuel pipeline generation, & enable customer adoption & retention.
This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between market needs & product capabilities, ensuring that our messaging resonates across all stages of the customer journey. You will oversee & contribute to creating sales & marketing assets, delivering data-driven insights, & shaping the strategic direction of product marketing initiatives that align with business objectives.
In addition to driving strategy, you will manage & mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, & collaboration to achieve measurable outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop & Execute Comprehensive Go-to-Market Strategies
- Lead cross-functional go-to-market planning for new product launches, enhancements, & feature updates, ensuring alignment with company revenue & growth goals.
- Drive market adoption by collaborating with Marketing to design demand-generation campaigns, content marketing strategies, & lifecycle marketing initiatives.
- Define & own launch objectives, milestones, & KPIs to track & report success.
- Craft Messaging & Positioning that Resonates Across Channels
- Develop compelling messaging frameworks, competitive positioning, & value propositions tailored to key personas & industries.
- Work with the Marketing team to ensure messaging consistency across all external touchpoints, including website, email campaigns, thought leadership content, webinars, & events.
- Equip teams with clear narratives that align with both product functionality & customer pain points.
- Deliver Market Insights to Inform Strategy
- Conduct in-depth market research, competitive analysis, & customer interviews to identify market trends, white space opportunities, & gaps in the portfolio.
- Serve as the expert on market dynamics, buyer personas, & customer needs to guide Product development & marketing efforts.
- Synthesize & share actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making, product roadmaps, & GTM priorities.
- Enable Sales & Marketing Teams with Strategic Resources
- Develop comprehensive enablement materials, including product collateral, battle cards, competitor analyses, demo scripts, & playbooks, ensuring alignment with product & campaign strategies.
- Collaborate with Marketing to design & deliver educational content, such as blogs, whitepapers, ebooks, & videos, to support demand generation & thought leadership efforts.
- Partner with Sales Enablement teams to train Sales & Customer Success teams on messaging, use cases, & market differentiation.
- Champion Customer-Centric Feedback & Advocacy
- Lead efforts to collect & integrate feedback from customers, prospects, & partners into product marketing strategies.
- Advocate for customer needs & pain points within the organization to shape product enhancements & innovation.
- Partner with Marketing to develop case studies & customer stories that highlight product impact & ROI.
- Own Performance Metrics & Optimization
- Establish & monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for product marketing success, such as pipeline contribution, content engagement, win rates, & customer adoption.
- Use data to optimize messaging, campaigns, & enablement strategies for continuous improvement.
- Report on the impact of product marketing efforts to senior leadership, providing actionable insights & recommendations.
- Lead & Mentor a High-Performing Team
- Build, develop, & inspire a team of product marketing professionals, fostering a collaborative & results-oriented culture.
- Set clear goals & performance expectations, providing mentorship & development opportunities to advance team members careers.
- Encourage innovation & cross-functional alignment to drive shared goals across the organization.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of product marketing experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, with proven success in high-growth SaaS or technology organizations.
- Strategic Leadership: Demonstrated ability to drive end-to-end go-to-market strategy, messaging, & campaign execution.
- Marketing Expertise: Strong experience partnering with Marketing teams to design campaigns & produce assets for demand generation, thought leadership, & lifecycle engagement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to work seamlessly with Product, Sales, & Customer Success teams to align on priorities & deliver business results.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Strong analytical skills, with a track record of leveraging data to guide strategy & optimize performance.
- Team Leadership: Success in managing & scaling high-performing product marketing teams while fostering professional growth & collaboration.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to influence stakeholders & communicate value across all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business or a related field; an MBA is preferred.
- Industry Experience: Prior experience in a Private Equity-backed organization & familiarity with high-velocity & enterprise SaaS GTM motions.
- Technical Acumen: Understanding of SaaS product functionality & buyer needs in key verticals such as e-commerce, retail, or technology.
