The person in this role will be responsible for implementing best-practice policies & procedures to ensure the accurate & timely accounting for our rapidly expanding real estate fleet. What youll do:
- Serve as a subject matter expert for all leases, including the application of & accounting for leases under ASC842
- Work closely with our third-party lease administration team to review lease abstraction & amortization schedules for new leases, modifications, & terminations & record the related rent expense to the general ledger
- Reconcile rent-related transactions on a monthly basis & investigate & resolve any discrepancies
- Provide data-driven explanations to any material fluctuations in occupancy expenses & related balance sheet accounts
- Review & follow up on monthly recurring & one-time landlord bills for accuracy & obtain approvals as needed from real estate & finance teams prior to payment
- Support 10-Q & 10-K filings by preparing all lease-related disclosures & review the lease-related items on the disclosure checklist
- Respond to audit & interdepartmental requests or questions related to real estate & leases
Who you are:
- Backed by 23 years of accounting experience with exposure to leases & deferred rent
- The proud owner of a Bachelor of Science in accounting or finance
- A total Excel expert (keyboard shortcuts are your love language)
- Consistently looking for new & innovative ways to work
- A highly communicative team player & self-starter willing to roll up your sleeves & get the job done
- Incredibly organized, detail-oriented, & excited by the challenge of improving & documenting processes
- Not on the Office of Inspector Generals List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)
