About the role:
This role is in the bioinformatics team - you will be responsible for the software that is used in the clinical laboratory to process patient samples & analyze their genomic profiles, finding the right treatment options for cancer patients based on a simple blood draw. You will participate in a small team following agile methodology. Your role would be to implement new solutions & architectures to solve complex problems in a clinical NGS setting. You will be assisting in developing internal tools that will help improve engineering efficiency.
Maintain & extend the applications RESTful web service / APIs in Python.
Design & implement solutions end-end from user interface through persistent storage.
Provide written documentation & specifications of software products & services. Preferably in a regulated environment such as IVD or CLIA.
Evaluate, test, & use open-source software & applications.Interface with other teams to obtain requirements & support deployed applications.
Ability & desire to work on all aspects of software development in an agile environment including documentation, design, development, & testing of features & sub-systems.
Field incoming service/issue requests from end users via email, ticketing system, telephone or in person
Provide technical support by way of identifying, classifying, troubleshooting, resolving & escalating technical issues.
Partnering with engineering & product teams to build out self-service tools to reduce & streamline technical support instances over time
Monitor user activity & logs to proactively identify & resolve technical problems
Making improvements to our team's documentation, processes & infrastructure.
Create strategy for self-help knowledge base infrastructure & content.
Be able to work during business hours (from 9 AM to 5 PM) & available on-call for after hour or weekend work
Support bioinformatics & clinical operations infrastructure
Excellent & proven troubleshooting skills
5+ years experience developing software in production environment
Strong understanding of Python
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
Expert knowledge of Linux operating systems, including commands/command line & networking concepts
Exceptional attention to detail, ability to follow through, & strong organizational & documentation skills
Ability to work well in a group & independently with minimal supervision
Experience Onboarding new users
Experience with Docker
Experience working in a regulated environment such as IVD or CLIA.
