What are we looking for:

ACV Auctions is looking for a Senior / Lead Usability Researcher with a strong ability to advocate for form & function. The ideal candidate should be an analytical & creative usability researcher  who is able to grasp user needs & solve problems. Your contributions will help enable domain focused cross-functional teams, & your user experience mindset will help bring clarity to the problem space & steer the solution space. What you will be doing:

As a Senior Usability Researcher, you will Influence + Deliver:

  • This role is focused on both usability research discovery & user testing as a service, enabling our product development team(s). As a Senior, you will be bringing a wealth of experience into various product development teams & have a strong ability to influence best practices, user needs, & task success. 
  • Enable quality via usability & user testing protocol templates across different personas & platforms, while reporting on quantitative & qualitative findings. 
  • Identify UX opportunities for personas & user journeys.
  • Facilitate collaborative user workshops & studio sessions with partners, & guide stakeholder into the process to facilitate, scribe, create protocols, & conduct user testing in collaboration with you.
  • Steer how we define our protocol success metrics, demographics & cohorts with stakeholders & enable creation of prototypes, cardsorts, moderated & unmoderated testing, affinity maps, visual reports & charts, & sentiment analysis.
  • Present your usability study process & outcomes to enable product iteration plans & future story mapping.
  • Present usability recommendations based on user testing, analytics, & user behavior.
  • Run experiments with product & technology stakeholders by providing & leading capabilities such as ethnographic studies, focus groups, interviews, feature surveys, remote & in-person usability studies, heat-mapping, click-mapping, card sorting, & diary/screen/camera studies.
  • Recruitment of dealer partners into our co-design panels & usability studies.
  • Measure past user studies & plan for optimization. 
  • Provide mentorship to junior members & maintain a positive outlook at all times.
  • Influence non-usability research functions (360 degrees) by enabling user evidence & best practices. 
  • Set usability best practices & standards. 

As a Lead Usability Researcher, you will Teach, Influence + Deliver:

What you will need:

As a Senior Usability Researcher, you will need:

  • Minimum 5 years of usability experience across web, iOS & Android.
  • Ability to analyze data & usage patterns to generate UX insights.
  • Ability to influence usability processes & practices.
  • Ability to conduct & provide peer reviews to other design members.
  • Strong communication skills to provide rationale for your research decisions. 
  • Strong understanding of UI, UX, interaction design, HCI, & animation principles.
  • Strong advocate of BJFogg framework, behaviour science best practices, & influential persuasive design.
  • Expertise with tools such as Usertesting, Survey Monkey, TryMyUi, Invision, UserZoom, Hotjar, Qualtrics, Delighted, Salesforce, Mixpanel, Fullstory, CrazyEgg, Optimal Sort.
  • Expertise in personas & identifying cohorts to remove inherent bias from test plans.
  • Expertise in project managing, leading & facilitating sessions, creating reports, & delegating tasks to stakeholders. 
  • Working knowledge of Android & iOS design guidelines.
  • Working knowledge with Miro, Figma, & prototyping tools such as Flinto or Invision.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, & responsive layouts.
  • Passionate about solving complex problems with simple, easy-to-use solutions.
  • A bachelor or masters degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), psychology, behaviour science, anthropology, UX design or a related field.

As a Lead Usability Researcher, you will need:

  • Minimum 10 years of usability experience across web, iOS & Android.
