The Role

BuzzFeed News is looking for a designer with 2 4 years of experience, whos interested in working at a fast paced news environment. Under the guidance of the Design Director, who is based in New York, your responsibilities will include the creation & commissioning of illustrations, graphics, & visualizations that help explain the news, as well as the presentation of all manner of stories. You will also work with our Curation team to create graphics for social channels, as well as assisting the Design Director on longer-term projects. Candidates will demonstrate an eye for design & typography, have good organizational skills, & be able to manage multiple timelines. Previous editorial/news experience is preferred. Familiarity with HTML/CSS/Javascript is a plus, but not a necessity.

You Will

• Create innovative, & ambitious designs for a variety of stories from all of our news desks
• Work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that ranges from reporters to copy editors & curation specialists
• Identify new talent & seek out diverse voices to create art for BuzzFeed News

You Have

• 2 4 years experience, preferably in news or publication design
• A portfolio of great work that shows the ability to assign & create illustrations, graphics, & other designs in a variety of mediums.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite & Figma. Experience with Blender is a plus.
• Attention to detail & excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to juggle multiple deadlines & work quickly under tight time constraints.
