Were starting with a virtual first connection. 

As we grow out our Virtual Primary Care offering, were looking for an Advanced Practitioner to manage a panel of patients with a virtual first mindset. Youll be working with a Care Team of an MD, other Advanced Practitioners, Medical Assistants & Nurses to provide collaborative care. 

What is the position?

Were looking for an Advanced Practitioner to manage a panel of members in San Antonio. Youll be responsible for keeping a set patient schedule & will act as the primary care provider for your panel. Youll be engaging with new products & tooling were rolling out for the program, & well look to you for feedback!

As we build the program, youll advocate for specific needs for your Care Team, & areas of improvement for our Virtual Primary Care offering. If necessary, youll make referrals to in person care settings, & may see your patients in person as well as we build out our on the ground offering. Youll be our ears to the ground & eyes to the future of how we provide primary care. 

Deliverables: What you have to achieve

  • Provide exceptional care for your panel of patients (18+) virtually (phone, messaging, video) and, when needed, in-person
  • Provide continuity of care to patients with a wide range of acuity from young/healthy to chronic conditions (DM, HTN, COPD, CAD, etc). 
  • Collaborate with MD/DO on Care Team on complex patients / escalated cases.  
  • Follow up on labs, imaging, & closed loop communication with other providers where necessary. 
  • Utilize tooling to enable virtual exams including remote home monitoring equipment, remote physical exam, remote point of care diagnostics (ie TytoCare or Butterfly) as appropriate. 
  • Provide thought leadership to what providing excellent Virtual Primary Care looks like, & work with Product & Operations to give feedback on ways to improve workflows & tooling to reflect best care practices. 
  • Collaborate with & supervise RNs, MAs.
  • Be available for on-call shifts & to answer critical labs escalations.
  • Maintain in person presence for Oscar members at least once a week at a designated site as business needs dictate by Oscar Virtual Care 
  • Maintain a flexible patient schedule -- this may include regularly scheduled early morning visits (7am) & early evening visits (7pm) with occasional Saturday visits as we understand patient preferences. 
  • Participate in collaborative care with virtual behavioral health Specialists (and potentially other Specialists!)

Winning factors: What leads to success

Must-have qualifications & expertise include:

  • DNP, FNP or ENP from an accredited nursing school
  • Qualified Physician Assistants will also be considered from accredited program 
  • Experience delivering virtual care; 5+ years of primary care experience
  • Located in [San Antonio] & willingness to practice in person at least once a week to provider in person coverage 
  • A will to be scrappy! Were still a small company, & that means theres constant change. You need to be comfortable adapting to & creating new workflows. 
  • Technical proficiency - we have a lot of systems we use (Athena, Oscar internal tools) & you need to be comfortable using these tools 
  • Experience being metrics driven in a practice setting as it relates to population health management, quality benchmarks, & productivity
  • Friendly, high quality web-side manner 
  • Familiarity utilizing e-consults for speciality services

  • Experience working with remote diagnostic & home monitoring tools 
  • Excited to practice medicine in unconventional ways including delivering more care outside the confines of the usual office visit 
  • Have Spanish language proficiency
