We are looking for a User Experience Design Manager to manage designers embedded within the consumer product team. As the market-leading automotive marketplace, with over 30 million active car shoppers a month, & over 26,000 paying dealerships on our platform, this role will touch a broad audience. You will empower car shoppers to not only search for vehicles on CarGurus, but seamlessly get financing & buy them online or at the dealership from their mobile phone.  

The ideal candidate will support designers to help them develop their skills, achieve their career goals, & improve the processes & systems they use. The Manager will additionally synthesize & lead design strategy for our consumer product. This position will report to the Head of UX Design & is a full-time people management & strategy role.

What Youll Do: 

  • Manage a team of UX designers & UX writers 
  • Develop designers & writers careers, skills, & performance 
  • Support design strategy & vision for our consumer business 
  • Advocate for user experience; support & uphold design quality
  • Ensure consistency, quality, & excellence across product areas
  • Work with teams & partners across CarGurus
  • Collaborate with design leadership to cultivate a vibrant team culture & respond to team or organizational needs. 

Who You Are: 

  • 2+ years of experience managing, growing, & mentoring a product design team
  • 4+ years of experience building digital products (worked on a digital product beyond V1)
  • Experience designing & managing in a fast-paced, agile environment 
  • Experience building consumer marketplaces (preferred)
