We're looking for experienced Solutions Engineers to provide pre- & post-sales support for our rapidly-growing customer base. A Solutions Engineer is responsible for the technical relationships with customers & prospects, working as a trusted advisor with customers to remove technical objections & creatively address pain points in a customer's SDLC. Solutions Engineers at GitHub also work internally with sales & product development to identify & communicate solutions which meet customers' ever changing business needs against the capabilities of GitHub's platform.

This SE role will serve US Public Sector customers - especially state & local governments & the vendors who support them.

Pre-Sales Responsibilities:

  • Identifying customer business requirements & matching them to product features
  • Building joint customer strategies with enterprise sales, support, & field services to encourage product adoption
  • Providing live demonstrations of the GitHub Enterprise platform to prospective customers
  • Answering GitHub product questions & helping customers & prospects to take full advantage of the GitHub product
  • Answering GitHub technical questions & helping customers integrate GitHub with their existing development tools & workflows
  • Building relationships with key decision makers & serving as a customer's technical point of contact
  • Educating prospects on product implementation & usage
  • Learning about customers' successes & challenges, sharing customer feedback within GitHub, & advocating for customer interests
  • Maintaining awareness of internal GitHub initiatives & the developer tools industry

Post-Sales Responsibilities:

  • Acting as intermediary between sales & other technical teams to best meet customer needs
  • Communicating customer feedback & perspectives to appropriate teams to be considered in product strategy
  • Documenting technical considerations, collecting existing articles, & contributing to internal knowledgebases as a resource for other teams, customers, & partners


  • 3+ years of experience in sales/solutions engineering, technical consulting, or DevSecOps operational roles
  • Customer-facing experience
  • Remote work friendly, with ability to travel up to 50%
  • Team-oriented & strong collaboration skills

  • Can quickly identify & solve technical & business challenges related to software delivery

  • Knowledge of Source Control Management (SCM) tools & workflows
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) architecture, tools & workflows
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced & dynamic environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of the enterprise Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Knowledge of software composition & security analysis, SAST/DAST tooling
  • Experience working in or with large software development teams
  • Knowledge of Git & GitHub workflows
  • Ability to articulate the value of DevOps & DevSecOps
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps patterns & industry trends
  • Familiarity with Public Sector customer needs, especially state & local government (SLG)
