As a Technical Solutions Engineer at Samsara, you will be responsible for helping Samsaras largest & most strategic customers implement B2B integrations with our IoT platform & those of our customers. In a given week, you may work with a large long-haul trucking company, an industrial-scale food producer, & a public utility to map a customers integration needs to current & future API capabilities, provide guidance & technical training to implementation teams to follow best practices, troubleshoot issues & advocate for fixes on behalf of customers (working with our tech support team), & ensure a successful customer relationship. A successful Technical Solutions Engineer at Samsara will develop a thorough understanding of B2B integrations in order to ensure the proper technical solution is delivered to our customers.

Your role will be cross-functional in nature, working alongside & connecting product managers, business operations, sales, & systems engineers, enabling you to experience multiple aspects of a hyper-growth company from within. Since Samsara is a fast-growing company with an emerging IoT technology, you can expect this role to evolve over time, with opportunities to take on increasing levels of responsibility & impact our growth.

This role is primarily based in San Francisco, with occasional travel.

What youll do:

  • Become a technical expert of the Samsara platform & develop a deep understanding of the fleet management space

  • Partner with Customer Engagement Managers to support all technical aspects of customer onboarding

  • Manage system integration projects between third party integrators, large customers, & Samsara engineering teams

  • Run & develop training sessions with customers & system integrators, educate & provide guidance on the developer ecosystem & tools, & work through challenges with everyone from technicians to COOs

  • Diagnose system integration issues, & to effectively escalate them when necessary

  • Exchange best practices & share knowledge with the Samsara product team & developer community, & advocate for customer experience

  • Successfully match customer pain points & requirements to proposed solutions

  • Establish customer relationships & trust throughout & beyond customer onboarding

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience working with customers in a pre-sales sales engineering, customer success, post-sale solutions or technical engineering, or customer/product support capacity

  • Ability to code in a modern language such as Java, Javascript, or Python

  • Solid understanding of & experience with integration standards & transports (SFTP, Soap/Rest APIs, AS2, XML, XSD, JSON & EDI)

  • A good understanding of database concepts & fluency in SQL

  • Strong written communication & presentation skills, demonstrated ability to work with a diverse set of teams

  • Bias-to-action & hands-on experience delivering business results

  • Hands-on experience with customer evaluations & deployments, with the ability to juggle multiple customer engagements in parallel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4+ years customer facing experience supporting Enterprise-scale integrations or API scripting

  • MS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.

  • Consistent track record of configuring & deploying complex technical solutions

  • Work experience in software development in a modern programming language

  • Familiarity with B2B system integration projects & workflows

  • Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems is a plus

  • Tinkering with hardware gadgets, sensors, or vehicles is a plus
