About the role
You're deeply curious & passionate about people & culture but you know your greatest skill is in law. Culture Amp is looking for an exceptional, team-oriented Director-level attorney to assist & support our junior legal team in managing all legal-related matters involving new sales & customer renewals in APAC, North America & Europe. In addition, youll be responsible to driving our Legal Ops function & overseeing the implementation of good process & tech solutions to help scale build efficiency into our already high-performing legal function.
You'll be a key member of our Trust & Resilience team & will work closely with our San Francisco, New York & London teams (alongside our Head Office & GC based in Melbourne, Australia) to find legal solutions to real world business problems. This is a special opportunity for the right candidate, with potential for growth. Any experience you have working with SaaS platform customers, especially in the HR space, will come in handy. San Francisco based attorneys are preferred.
Role Responsibilities
Help to update & implement legal processes to help scale our business & capture new learnings.
Advise & guide multiple levels of our sales & customer success teams through new sales & customer renewals.
Draft customer documents, such as terms of use & data protection agreements.
Draft internal policies & processes, including helping us reach ISO 27001 certification.
Provide commercial deal support to the 4 Contracts Counsel & pitch in when necessary on inbound, outbound & strategic transactions.
Remain up-to-date on relevant industry, privacy & tech law to enable you to provide high quality legal advice.
Work within a tight-knit team to help progress our company's goals & mission.
Preferred Qualifications
Breadth of experience with many areas of law, particularly B2B, enterprise & technology contracts, data privacy, US employment law & some corporate experience
Ability to draft documents, terms of use, emails, & anything else precisely & in plain language.
The attention to detail you'd expect from a lawyer.
A confident, effective & positive advisor who can help our sales teams through difficult customer sales with efficiency & professionalism.
A high level of integrity & judgment that is supported by great communication skills.
A mindset that enables you to work independently, but also to use good judgment & escalate issues when needed.
Ability to develop a nuanced understanding of Culture Amp & our industry, with an eye towards aligning decisions with our bigger picture goals.
The flexibility to adapt & thrive in a constantly changing environment as we grow our business, learn more about our customers, & figure out what works best & what doesnt.
Experience working on HR/employment law issues across the US, preferably in a technology company or equivalent environment.
Experience with Legal Ops/technology implementation in similar environments for in-house legal teams.
Experience working with technology (ideally startups), with at least a couple of years working as an attorney at a highly regarded law firm. Minimum 10+ years PQE.
JD required. New York Bar admission in good standing or qualified for & willing to maintain Registered In-House Counsel status in New York.
