About the Role:
The Search team at Planet is seeking a new Software Engineer to better enable access to Planets valuable data sets. Your mission will be to build services that enable efficient publishing & searching of Planets variety of datasets.. The Search team enables Planet customers scalable & contextually relevant access to our data through a variety of APIs & applications. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, creative, & has at least some experience building large scale backend systems.
Impact Youll Own:
- Enablement of efficient & rapid access to our variety of new & growing data sets
- Evolve the internal publishing, indexing & search capabilities that power our customer facing Platform.
- Scale software systems for data delivery with growing customer demand
- Evolve customer-facing data delivery services with an emphasis on scale & customers requirements
- Full service ownership by measuring performance, creating alerts, being on call, & responding to incidents & performance anomalies.
What You Bring:
- Experience building customer-facing APIs in languages such as Go & Python using tools like git
- Familiarity monitoring & operating highly scalable cloud native software.
- Excellent communication skills & an ability to work well in a remote setting
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Experience maintaining infrastructure with Kubernetes, Terraform, & Ansible
- Experience building services that leverage cloud-based infrastructure & tooling such as AWS or GCP
- Youve worked with geospatial data before, even tangentially

Compensation (only applicable for Colorado applicants):
The base pay range targeted for this position in Colorado is: $116,100 - $187,200. This role is eligible for equity.
The actual offer, including the compensation package, is determined based on multiple factors, including experience, location, & other business considerations.
Planet is registered as an employer in many, but not all, states. If you are not able to work from a state where Planet is registered, you will not be eligible for employment.
