The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the development & support of all employees in the New York office. The Human Resources Manager works closely with the global Human Resources team, the global Talent Acquisition team & the Leadership team in the NYC office to ensure that the needs of all employees of Critical Mass are being represented. The successful candidate will not only have experience in dealing with Human Resources issues & concerns, but will also have experience supporting cross-functional teams & dealing with internal stakeholders in remote locations.


You Will:

Career Development Support

  • Work with Director, Human Resources & the NYC Leadership Team to identify opportunities to enhance employee development strategies
  • Together with the Human Resources team, coordinate timeliness of performance reviews for new hires & existing employees
  • Serve as a resource to employees on managing internal conflicts, advising them on development opportunities & resolving complex employee relations issues
  • Provide on-going support & coaching to career developers while looking for opportunities to enhance current Critical Mass programs & policies

Compensation & Talent Strategies

  • Work with the NYC office leads team & the Director, Human Resources to identify talent & devise development, retention & engagements strategies
  • Coordinate efforts with the HR team to ensure appropriate new-hire information is obtained & employee changes, promotions & increases are executed & communicated
  • Analyze competitive market conditions in NYC to ensure salary ranges are competitive & adjustments are made, as needed
  • Investigate & resolve complex employee relations issues & partner with the Director, Human Resources, where appropriate
  • Support overall organizational staff planning & strategy, working closely with the Director, Human Resources & discipline leads
  • Identify trends from exit interviews, employees surveys & 1v1s to identify new programs, enhance current processes & provide guidance to managers/Leads

Rewards & Recognition

  • Be the voice for the NYC employees to ensure that exemplary performance does not go unrewarded
  • Encourage employee celebrations & assist with special events when required

Policies

  • Review Critical Mass policies & procedures on a regular basis to identify opportunities for enhancing the policies to ensure we are meeting the needs of our employees
  • Educate employees on appropriate interpretation of policies & procedures as well as communicate any updates or changes
  • Continue to be well read & informed of industry events, networking opportunities, Human Resources regulations/laws & industry challenges

Training & Orientation

  • Facilitate the delivery of new hire onboarding with a focus on building strong relationships with new hires, managers & office leads
  • Arrange in-house training opportunities & assist in identifying & building out training sessions, as needed
  • Work with the remote teams to disseminate appropriate learning/training & conference opportunities to other Critical Mass employees
  • Facilitate development & implementation of templates, tools, processes & behaviours that support effective resource management across the organization & projects
  • Lead management training & office related training for the New York office
  • Together with the Director, Human Resources, establish a communication schedule for employees to handle weekly & monthly meetings, distribute information from the Leadership Team & address ongoing individual, group, department & office issues using internal messaging channels (e.g. such as Slack)

Human Resources Projects

  • Lead & manage the New York internship program including; recruitment, onboarding & ongoing support throughout the internship experience
  • Oversight of Global HR processes including; Quarterly Portfolio Audits & background check oversight
  • Identify, brainstorm & lead global projects & process enhancements across the organization

You Have:

  • Minimum 5 years generalist experience in a software, agency or interactive web development environment;
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Management or Communications (or equivalent experience)
  • Professional designation in Human Resources is desired
  • Demonstrated ability building trust & confidence across organizations
  • Demonstrated ability driving pragmatic decision-making in a collaborative, fast-paced, team-based environment
  • Proven experience leading, delegating, motivating, mentoring & building teams
  • Proven experience dealing with conflict, difficult situations & challenging personalities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project & business management principles, methods, & techniques
  • Ability to strategically & tactically organize & structure operational activities
  • Demonstrated skills & experience in mediation, negotiation & presentation
