What Youll Do:
Design, develop, and/or test software applications for CarGurus. Duties include: develop & implement new features, functionalities, & infrastructure to retain users & improve the experience for millions of users across millions of cars globally, working in a cross-functional team of data analysts, product managers, & other engineers & engaging in the full development lifecycle, including designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, monitoring, & improving software; write clean, well-tested, & efficient code & deploy changes daily; design software to build new features & fix issues in the consumer-retention team within Cargurus; collaborate with fellow engineers, designers, & data analysts to take an idea from concept to technical design & finally to a fully tested working solutions; ensure smooth operation of various microservices & scheduled jobs such as posting emails & mobile push notifications to consumers, maintaining data synchronization between Iterable & Cargurus database; contribute to projects using programming languages & tools such as java, spring, MySQL, AWS, Apache Kafka to streamline business process & improve user experience for our customers; participate in whiteboard sessions & design conversations on engineering the best solution to the challenges at hand & test out new ideas with novel & quick experiments; & monitor & visualize performance metrics of API endpoints, services, & jobs using tools such as Grafana & Prometheus.
Who You Are:
Masters degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field & two (2) years of experience in each of the following: Software development; Java or similar object-oriented programming language; Concurrency, multi-threading, web applications, & event driven architectures; Data structures, algorithms, & complexity analysis; & SQL or similar relational database.
