The Tax Operations team makes sure our payroll tax engine is running smoothly & firing on all cylinders. Were looking for people who have a passion for operations, an eye for inefficiencies, & a desire to build processes at a fast-growing start-up.

As a Tax Operations Advocate, youll showcase your passion for customer service by processing & remitting tax payments & filings on our customers behalf while delivering a world-class customer experience. You will work closely with tax agencies as well as our cross-functional partner teams to reach the best outcomes for our customers & provide feedback on tools that streamline the filing process.

This role is very hands-on, with an emphasis on research & analysis, excellent communication skills, & first-principles problem solving.  A strong work ethic & a strong desire to be part of the team is critical for success. You must also possess & take pride in a high attention to detail, organization & task management, & be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven business environment.

Heres what youll do day-to-day:

  • Be a process pro. Our customers depend on us to process their tax payments & filings accurately & on time. Youll help process filings & remit payments to tax agencies on behalf of our customers.
  • Be a detective. When we hit errors or roadblocks in the process, youll investigate & solve issues that arise. And youll help prevent it from happening again.
  • Be an ambassador. Youll work with tax agencies & our cross-functional teams to make sure we represent our customers the best we can, from setup through filing. Along the way, youll constantly keep our processes & documentation up to date.
  • Be an influencer. Provide business insights & recommendations based on data that will drive our strategy.
  • Be a builder. Build & implement scalable processes.
  • Provide exceptional service to our customers daily.

Heres what we're looking for:

  • 1 - 2+ years in customer-service role, either in professional environment or in retail/service industry
  • 1 - 2+ years payroll & tax experience preferred 
  • Experience in operations work in a startup / fast-moving tech environment preferred

  • Problem solving. You love understanding why something happened, fixing it, & then making sure it doesnt happen again.

  • Excellent communication skills. Written & verbal with ability to communicate complex topics in a simple, digestible way.
  • Improvement mentality. Youll constantly challenge the status quo & have proven process improvement experience.
  • Organization. Youre comfortable keeping projects on track, are extremely organized & able to improve processes.
  • Software-savvy. You can pick up new systems & tools quickly.

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $21.16/hr - $25.49/hr in Denver & most remote locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience & expertise & may vary from the amounts listed above.
