Hi, we're Oscar. Were hiring a Database Reliability Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations.

About the role:

As an engineer on the Infrastructure Operations team, you will be joining a tight knit group of engineers who work collaboratively on maintaining systems & products that keep our business up & running. As part of our product suite, Infra Ops supports RDS database administration, maintenance & performance. 

Joining the Infra Ops Team as a Database Reliability engineer means you will be working in parallel with other infrastructure engineers with various tools & languages to support multiple services, including AWS RDS, Google Cloud Platform,  Ansible, Terraform, Python, & Go.

You will report into the Infrastructure Operations Engineering Manager This is a hybrid role. You will work part of the time in the New York City office & part of the time work-from-home/remote. #LI-Hybrid


  • Lead the teams in performance & query analysis, indexing, & schema design best practices
  • Level-up Infrastructure Operation engineers database expertise
  • Monitor systems & databases to ensure optimal performance, availability & capacity
  • Collaborate with software engineering & operations teams to quickly highlight & resolve problems with database systems
  • Guide teams with a focus on automation maintainability, & security
  • Create & manage backup, restore, & data retention policies 
  • Create, manage & update tools for day to day DB management 


  • You have 3+ years of experience in similar DBRE, SRE, or DevOps roles in a cloud-based environment (AWS preferred)
  • Experience in query analysis, indexing, & schema design
  • 2+ years of experience with automating systems & infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible or similar technologies
  • Have at least 5 years of experience running PostgreSQL in large production environments.
  • Have solid knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL

Bonus points:

  • Experience in a heavily regulated industry (healthcare, financeetc.) 
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment
  • Experience with GCP / BigQuery
  • Comfortable providing best practices, documentation & presenting to a wide audience
  • Experiencing coaching / guiding technical users 
  • Comfortable with uncharted territory & guiding others to larger goals
