About the Role: 

The Controller will help build our finance function & work to implement greater financial rigor & process across the company. Youll own the entire accounting function at Chief, defining the companys policies & procedures & building out a team. You will manage the companys financial operating system & ensure compliance with regulations & best practices. As the person responsible for the companys financial statements, you will be a key part of telling Chiefs story & essential to driving its growth. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will have an exciting opportunity to manage & drive the financial close process for a high growth & mission-driven company.

Responsibilities:

  • Own & direct the companys entire accounting operations, including establishing & enforcing policies, procedures, & controls
  • Lead month-end close process & financial statement review, contributing insights & recommendations as part of variance analysis
  • Investigate reporting discrepancies / anomalies & communicate issues as they arise in a timely manner
  • Continually develop, expand & improve month end close & financial reporting procedures
  • Partner with FP&A team during the planning & budgeting process
  • Evaluate & implement systems to improve the companys financial operations
  • Supervise the Accounts Payable process, assisting with review & execution of weekly payments
  • Manage 3rd party vendor & contractor payment schedules, administrative policies, & tax reporting
  • Support the year-end financial statement audit. Work directly with auditors to ensure a smooth & timely process
  • Communicate with internal & external partners at various levels
  • Manage, mentor & train accounting team members

What Were Looking For:

  • 10+ years of experience in Accounting, start-up experience a plus
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, SaaS accounting & business models
  • Proven track record of success with establishing, managing, & evolving accounting policies & procedures in early stage, high growth companies
  • Previous experience directly overseeing the implementation of a new or replacement ERP system
  • Strong interpersonal skills, an ability to work cross functionally, & a knack for presenting financial information in a way that others can understand easily
  • Highly analytical & detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership
  • Experience with Quickbooks, NetSuite, Chargebee, Bill.com, and/or Expensify
  • Passion for the Companys mission, positioning & brand to empower women in business & spark change from the top
  • BA/BS, CPA required
