Cogito is growing & our small (but highly valued) Legal & Deal Desk team is ready to add a new member!
We are looking for a team member who can help drive Cogito's growth by supporting all of our functional teams across the company as both a legal advisor & a dealmaker. First, you will support our CEO, Finance, People & other corporate teams on a wide range of corporate, employment, data privacy, IP, & compliance issues. Second, you will support our sales team in negotiating commercial agreements with large, sophisticated enterprises that are widely known as the leading companies in their industry. These complex negotiations will test your commercial acumen, negotiating prowess, & legal skill. You will negotiate contracts & pricing with our vendors as well.
You should also have the range & desire to get involved in any other legal or operational projects that will help Cogito grow, such as international expansion, strategic partnerships, or M&A. This role is ideal for a lawyer who thrives on being involved in all aspects of a business, from protecting the company from risk to the thrill of bringing in a deal.
You should have a pragmatic & business-minded approach to tackling legal issues for Cogito. You should feel excited & challenged working in a fast paced & always changing environment. You should feel confident stepping into a generalist role & be ready to learn & contribute in areas outside of your core expertise.
This role will be reporting directly to the SVP of Business Operations, who is also a lawyer & serves as Cogito's General Counsel. Consistent with Cogito's office optional” workspace vision, this role can be located either remotely or in Boston, MA, & if in Boston, with a hybrid schedule which includes some days remote & some days in-office based on what works best for you & the team.
