It takes place a year on since the Government issued its response to Ofcoms strategic review of digital, and as Ofcom has ordered the legal separation on BT and its Openreach division in order to create a more level playing field. It is also timed during a period of uncertainty over the future for the UK regulatory framework for telecoms in anticipation of the UK process of withdrawal from the European Union, and in anticipation of a new legislation for electronic communications infrastructure and services. Planned sessions will consider the latest developments in policy to promote growth, innovation and quality of services in the UK telecoms market and the UK digital economys wider competitiveness, as well as examine industry initiatives in strengthening the consumer offer across fixed, mobile, broadband and TV services to encourage fair market competition.
