Description
On August 5, NASA's Curiosity, a $2-billion, MINI Cooper-sized rover, will land on Mars to analyze its chemical composition and help us understand the potential for life on the Red Planet. To commemorate this exciting milestone in space exploration, join Huge, Honeybee Robotics, Final Frontier Design and Martian Summer author Andrew Kessler, as they discuss the latest research and technological advancements in space investigation.
Honeybee Robotics is a leading spacecraft technology and robotics company with headquarters in New York City. Over the past 20 years, Honeybee has developed robotic technologies for applications here on Earth, in space, on the surface of the Moon and Mars, and beyond.
Final Frontier Design is a high-tech design company working with advanced concepts in space suit technology. They placed second in the 2009 NASA Astronaut Glove Challenge and recently completed a Phase I SBIR with NASA’s Johnson Space Center to further develop their space suit technology.
Andrew Kessler is the author of Martian Summer: Robot Arms, Cowboy Spacemen and My 90 Days with the Phoenix Mars Mission. In 2008, Andrew spent three months living and working in mission control of the last Mars expedition, along with 130 top NASA scientist and engineers, becoming the first outsider ever granted unfettered access to such an event.
