Deep learning practitioners came together to discuss various domains, what are some high impact problems solvable through AI & how do we solve them.

Brookie Guzder-Williams talks about "Forma 250: Near real-time detection of tree cover loss through satellite imagery"

Sravya Tirukkovalur & Matthew Kleinsmith talk about how Deep learning can help accelerate the flow of critical information when it is most needed especially around natural disasters. They explore the use of satellite imagery to assess structural damage & propose the use of social media to gather critical information.

Janardhan Shetty speaks about early detection tool for Autism. Early detection of autism in kids saves of the lifetime costs for their care. Deep Learning can be helpful to identify facial features of autistic kids, characteristic voice patterns through audio clips, behavioral video patterns & movements through video clips.

Sahil Singla speaks about how FarmGuide is digitizing & solving the information asymmetry problem in Agriculture, the biggest yet loss-making industry in India.

Xinxin works with Xeed, a wearable technology company, to develop a system for Parkinsons patient therapy management. She speaks about her work on applying deep learning to Parkinson's disease therapeutic research, the core of which is a machine learning model trained with clinical studies data. This new system would enable a doctor to gauge patients symptoms, such as tremors & dyskinetic, via sensor data collected out of the clinic, rather than relying on written diaries or interviews with patient caregivers.
