Event technology has come a long way in the past 35 years, and the next five years will see the fastest growth ever in our field. Lighting and digital projection have been staples in our field, from simple projections on walls, to interactive mapping of buildings, cakes, and just about anything else you can imagine. Over the past 10 years these technologies have gotten less expensive, more accessible, and are almost expected at any well produced event. However, those advancements will soon be old news as AR and VR join the fray. As recently as January 23rd, Special Events Magazine posted an article entitled, "Getting Real: Virtual, Augmented Reality Move In on Events". Quoting from that article:

"The idea of having people in the room strap devices on their heads that are going to separate them from each other gives a lot of meeting professionals the heebie-jeebies, But, like it or not, AR and VR are not just comingthey're already here"

Join us at the March meeting as take a brief journey through the history of technology and how it pertains to the special events industry, and learn how new advances and cutting edge approaches will allow us to be more immersed in our events than ever before. Guests will not only experience the environments we create, they will be forever changed by them.

Speaker:
