Are you interested in becoming a Data Scientist, but don't know where to start?

The first two steps are to have a solid understanding of the principles of statistics, & knowledge of a programming language to implement them (often Python).

Galvanize's Crush the Take-Home: Intro to Stats is designed to give you the stats knowledge required to enter our full-time, 12-week Data Science Immersive program.

Please note that space is limited & priority will be given to attendees who intend to apply for the immersive program.

Main topics covered:

Day 1: Probability, Random Variables, Probability Distributions

Day 2: Statistical inference, Hypothesis Testing, Linear Modeling, Evaluation Metrics

Day one begins with a gentle introduction to probability & the major distributions used in statistics.

On the second day, we dive further into how to make use of probability distributions for inference & hypothesis testing. We then introduce regression & classification through the use of examples. Finally, we discuss some of the commonly use methods of evaluating model results.

Because knowing Python is a prerequisite for the Data Science Immersive program, we will rely on Python libraries to explore statistics concepts & expect attendees to be able to code along.
