Big Data does not convert data into actionable information. Big Data does not create value. But Data Science does, & it does not have to be complex or expensive, or even big.

This presentation is a journey from smart data discovery & visual analytics, to rules-based systems, machine learning models & embedded applications. The case studies include code & configurations from a number of tools & languages; R & Python are highlighted. We also feature TIBCO products i.e. TIBCO Spotfire for data discovery & visual analytics, TIBCO Statistica for data science & machine learning, & TIBCO StreamBase for development & deployment into real-time infrastructure.

The TIBCO products are open-source friendly - both re. scripting & R/Python code lifecycle management. TIBCO has developed its own commercial R engine - TIBCO Enterprise Runtime for R (TERR) - that is installed automatically in TIBCO product distributions.

Note that TIBCO owns the S language & the S-PLUS software product; & a team of engineers who have made this possible.
