About This Workshop Series
The current trend dictates that Data Science & E-Commerce often sit side-by-side. Decisions from a business & marketing perspective are often driven by data & needed in majority of tech organizations to understand their users, analyze & predict integral KPIs. In this interdisciplinary workshop, we will conduct an overview of the E-Commerce Landscape, the use of customer acquisition & engagement marketing, data analysis tools, data science principles relating the role of machine learning in today's fast paced data-driven world.
We will cover case studies for marketing strategy, discuss the role of data science & apply principles & tools.
Prereqs & Preparation
- Open to all levels
- Highly recommended: Basic coding (Intro to Coding: HTML & CSS class offered for free at GA)
- Bring a laptop, writing materials & access to Google docs.

About the Instructors
Sinan Ozdemir
Founder, Kylie.ai
Sinan Ozdemir is an experienced teacher & entrepreneur. Throughout his years at the Johns Hopkins University, he has helped start a healthcare data analytics company, published a paper on game theory, ran marathons for charity, & participated in charities aimed to give at-risk children in Turkey as well as undergraduates in the US access to education.
Sinan graduated with his Masters in Theoretical Mathematics from JHU & became a professor of Mathematics & Computer Science. Sinan is also a co-Founder/CTO of Legion Analytics.
Vanessa Herman
Principal, VE
Vanessa (also known as V) Herman is a commerce & content professional. With 13+ years of experience in E-Commerce, Digital Marketing, Retail, Operations, Editorial & Content Creation, she has worked at Google Express, Restoration Hardware, ABC, CBS, Spirit Airlines & on projects such as Yahoo's WHO KNEW & NBC's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.
V grew up with the L.A. vibe, loving theatre & television, which led her to New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study for her undergraduate degree. When she's not working, she enjoys shopping local to find wonderful artists & artisans, riding her bike, & practicing Reiki, working with women recovering from breast cancer for The Shanti Project & various community members at SF Reiki Center.
