This event will focus on AI local on edge devices like IoT, drones and mobile. We have two great speakers to cover the Venture Capital/Business side and a more technical talk about the challenges of running AI on the edge. 
Mohammad Islam - Senior Associate at Draper Fisher Jurvetson will cover the VC perspective of Edge AI, will discuss opportunities in the field and where he sees the market heading. 
Cheuksan Wang - Cofounder & CTO of Deepen.AI is going to discuss work he has been doing to run deep learning models on mobile phones. He will summarize recent research in reducing model size and improving performance on phones and embedded systems. He will present results of his experiments and do a demo of image classification and object detection on an Android phone.

Mohammad Islam - Senior associate at DFJ
Mohammad focuses on disruptive technologies in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, healthcare and next-generation infrastructure. He has sourced DFJ's investments in Zymergen, Atomwise, and a number of stealth companies. Mohammad is also a co-author in a chapter addressing the disruption of employment by the rise of automation and artificial intelligence in Disrupting Unemployment: Reflection on a Sustainable, Middle Class Economic Recovery. Prior to joining DFJ, Mohammad was on the technology team at In-Q-Tel, where he conducted technical diligence on investments made on behalf of the US Intelligence Community (IC). He was responsible for bridging the gap between the technology needs of the US IC and emerging commercial innovation. Mohammad also held engineering roles at Lockheed Martin, the National Science Foundation, and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Mohammad graduated with a BS in electrical engineering from Stanford University, with interdisciplinary honors in international security studies. While at Stanford, he served as a research assistant in both the Very Low Frequency Group, which investigates the earth's upper atmosphere, and the Center for International Security and Cooperation. He also worked as a developer at Soup, a startup working on building applications to make it easier for nonprofits to raise donations.

Dr. Cheuksan Wang - CTO at <A STYLE="text-decoration: none;" HREF="http://deepen.ai/" REL="nofollow">Deepen.AI</A>
Deepen is working on making AI more accessible to businesses and developers. Dr. Wang is working on image recognition AI models that can be integrated in apps within a few minutes without requiring prior AI expertise. He has a Phd from MIT and worked in Software Engineering roles at Google and ITA Software before starting <A STYLE="text-decoration: none;" HREF="http://deepen.ai/" REL="nofollow">Deepen AI</A>.
