Our location partner for this event is 9Zero.n Meet our host & guests:n Shashank Samala is CEO of Heirloom, a company building Direct Air Capture technology that harnesses the natural properties of limestone to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere with a real path towards billion-ton scale removal. He is a serial entrepreneur with a background in electronics manufacturing & was previously Entrepreneur in Residence at Carbon180. Shashank grew up in southeast India where he saw those who had done the least to cause the climate crisis suffering the most from its impacts.n Senator Scott Wiener has represented San Francisco & northern San Mateo County in the California Senate since 2016. In that time, he has made advancing Californias global leadership on climate change a top priority, leading efforts to ban fracking in the state, streamline permitting for clean energy & public transportation projects, transform Californias energy storage market through the largest investment in its history, fund & expand public transportation. He has been a major national voice advocating to use land use policy & dense housing as critical levers to slash greenhouse gas emissions from transportation. In 2023, the New York Times declared Senator Wieners SB 253 the nations first law requiring corporations to disclose their greenhouse gas emissions to be a landmark climate disclosure bill with national & global repercussions in governments efforts to fight climate change. He was the only elected official to be honored as one of TIME Magazines top 100 Climate Leaders in 2023.n Cody Simms is the host of the My Climate Journey podcast & Managing Partner at MCJ Collective.
